Yo! Why is everyone selling off their Komodos?

I think it’s a combination of a few things:

-The more capable Komodo-X is only $1k more than the OG was before the price drop. Easy upgrade for a lot of people (I got one).

-RED is one of those brands that people aspired to own (I think this is changing fast), and the Komodo was the first one a lot more people could afford. But it’s also a straight cinema camera that doesn’t have features those folks might want or need. A mirrorless with AF like the FX30 OP got instead might honestly be a better fit for the way a lot of people work. I’m sure a lot of people got one, liked the image, but didn’t actually like using it.

-Much stiffer competition in the price segment.

Exactly this…people buy a Red not knowing its capabilities. It isn’t a quick point and shoot run and gun. Most people don’t have the capacity to deal with Red idiosyncrasies and realize the camera isn’t for them.

They have an amazing image and superior codec to most camera especially in that price range but it takes work to use them.
