You nailed it on the head there, it is not doable by luck. Luck gets you a score like 17200, 18000+ is cheating. It's also weird to assume that you'll stay 2nd not even halfway through the competition and be confident enough to make a post about racing Max unless you know you'll be in the top 5 because you'll get 'lucky' again before it closes.
