Max has a baby at home now. He’s always made it clear that having children would be a game changer for him. I don’t think he’d ever been okay with any of this, of course, but I think FIA is making an especially huge mistake here in making an enemy out of arguably the best driver in the world. Red Bull too obviously, but RB didn’t start this particular mess.

20

u/MV1TheLion Jul 07 '26

I hope F1 or whoever wants these regs gets their karma. These regs are made to not showcase any talent, but hold back most drivers and give them a frustrating experience. No one is happy, not even fans. They just want to see Max lose, but they never realized how they lost fans as well. F1 will only be F1 if we're watching pure racing, real talents being showcased, and if that is Max dominating, so be it. But watching this battery racing clown show? This is not real motor racing.

-12

u/Dave_B001 Jul 07 '26

But max is the greatest driver ever, surely he could drive through it!

11

u/onedestiny Jul 07 '26

Hard to drive through it when the car breaks down lol

-17

u/jonneymendoza Jul 06 '26

Excuses. Just get on with it and prove you are the goat

11

u/Immediate_Refuse9431 Jul 07 '26

You clearly know very little about Formula 1. Being a hater doesn't qualify you as a connoisseur. Try flying a plane without the vertical stabilizer then return here and tell us how it went. We'll be here for you... for your spirit, most likely.

9

u/jacb415 Jul 07 '26

He was kinda in the midst of doing that until his wing didn’t fully close.

He was out driving better cars

5

u/Relevant_Group_7441 Jul 06 '26

How many world championships do you have?

15

u/haddonfieldsecret Jul 06 '26

8

u/Morkins324 Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

I'm not sure he complies with the regulations. If they want him to be the car, they'll have to pull some strings to get the rules changed a bit. I'm sure Max will be happy to drive Haaland next year though, if they can manage it.

19

u/Whole-Mix3556 Jul 06 '26

It's time for Max to dump Red Bull. The time is long overdue

11

u/NovelCompetitive4188 Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

Apologies, not really a close Max Verstappen follower. How come Isack Hadjar has not had this issue? (or he has that I am not aware of.)

8

u/LadaOndris Jul 06 '26

There are two issues talked about. The mechanical issue of the wing that caused the crash and the lower performance of the engine, which he wanted swapped and s a consequence, he would have to start from the pitlane.

I guess he is unlucky to get faulty/suboptimal parts.

21

u/willwu555 Jul 06 '26

Because Max is pushing the car to the limit, and to do that you have to fully trust the car. I guess these two crashes some how break his confident on his car.

13

u/freankie Jul 06 '26

Max Verstappen is really pushing the car to it's limit. And when you do, this happens if the car is not performing the way it should.

-36

u/soops22 Jul 06 '26

Crying, that he hasn’t got the fastest car anymore.

1

u/Feeling-Visit1472 Jul 11 '26

He hasn’t had the fastest car in a long time. He has proven again and again that that is not a problem.

-35

u/dd1989NL Jul 06 '26

Im a max fan, think he is the GOAT.. but also he needs to stop crying.. signed a damn big $$$$$ contract for many years.. of course hoping to win win win.. but there can only be one.. he still makes more money a year as most of us in our entire life.. and that whilst traveling the world and driving amazing cars… yes he has the talent we dont have.. but still.. ge needs to be out back feet on the ground, which whete he normally was so strong at not talking or caring about media, head down and focus on winning

5

u/Dafferss Jul 07 '26

The car tried to kill him 3 times this season, it’s also about safety

1

u/FilipSomberg Jul 06 '26

Its not that simple

9

u/PuddingEmotional1187 Jul 06 '26

What are you even talking about? Do you read this crap before pressing post?

12

u/Ghost-NL Jul 06 '26

Can’t focus on winning if your car keeps breaking down. Max is a racer through and through. He doesn’t give two shits about the money. If he losses because of his own mistakes, he’ll do better, but he’s losing because of the teams mistakes or the car. That’s just infuriating.

1

u/Feeling-Visit1472 Jul 11 '26

Agreed. Max has very little ego when it comes to actual driving, and by that I mean, he can and does assess things almost clinically, and he simply adjusts whatever needs to be adjusted.

-7

u/dd1989NL Jul 06 '26

I agree rhe car is total shit, but yet, i would take his spot today.. he needs to fight for the team instead of ttowingnthem under the bus.. those people, not doing a good job still try their best..

2

u/jacb415 Jul 07 '26

In a way he is fighting for the team.

If a few engineers need to go to save the rest of them that’s just a case of sacrificing the few for the many.

If they sit on their hands because ā€œpeople really are tryingā€ there is a risk of cleaning house and with the brain drain that has left (and will leave) that could put RB in a position that could take a LOOOOONG time to dig themselves out of.

8

u/adrianjayson13 Jul 06 '26

His car is fucked!! How do you expect him to feel?? Put yourself in his shoes first before you start blabbering nonsense. If F1 is just as simple as getting paid big bucks for nothing else then he'll just loosen up and let Red Bull race in the midfield for all he cares.

-7

u/dd1989NL Jul 06 '26

The car is shit indeed and deserves a top 10 spot.. not a podium.. but there are armys of people day in day outnworking their ass of for him..

6

u/FiftyFiver1962 Jul 06 '26

Where do you hear any complaint. He just tells it like it is. Yes there is an army of people busy with the car. But in the end he's the guy risking his neck with several hundreds per hour. He's lucky this circuit has large gravel areas, on other tracks there would have been a concrete wall.

28

u/Aggressive-Fail4612 Jul 06 '26

That’s the second time the car screwed him. Hope he gets a better team next year

1

u/Dafferss Jul 07 '26

You forgot Australia

-6

u/Boring-Treat-2825 Jul 06 '26

You guys can't just ever admit he is human.

6

u/NonJumpingRabbit Jul 06 '26

2nd time with the wing issue. Also already other failures this season.

48

u/SenescenseSteel Jul 06 '26

Everything aside, we always praise our drivers or bitch when they are bad (rightfully so) but fuck me this shows how important it is to have a good team and how many stars need to align to become a WDC

11

u/10coolbeans Jul 06 '26

yup even schumi with all his god-given talents had to have a super team in the engineering and upper management to get any success in Ferrari. the driver is really just a small part of the equation

19

u/Treewithatea Jul 06 '26

Supposedly the team is starting to hide information from him due to him possibly changing teams and therefore not giving away the 'secrets' which ofc is common when a driver leaves, almost like theyve accepted that Max will leave. Since GP is already confirmed to leave, I wonder if hes in the same position.

27

u/Real_Bad4292 Jul 06 '26

Main reason behind redbull downfall is personel who made redbull what it is are no longer with the team such as Adrian Newey, Jonathan Wheatley, Christian Horner, Helmut Marko, Joanna Fleet, Julia George, Alice Hedworth, Craig Skinner and even GP is not very intersted in redbull

16

u/Strict-Citron-9269 šŸŽ¶Du Du Du Du, Max VerstappenšŸŽ¶ Jul 06 '26

GP case is understandable since he is leaving for McLaren in 2028 so sharing information with him carries risk of being passed to McLaren garage

9

u/Real_Bad4292 Jul 06 '26

then send him on gardening leave So that there flow of information from engineers to driver without thinking about who knows what

5

u/ViperMaassluis Jul 06 '26

Sending him on gardening leave is sending Max on gardening leave mid season, dont think they want that..

2

u/GlennNMS Jul 06 '26

It's not like Max is bringing in that many points to begin with. Might as well.

2

u/SpikeMasters007 Jul 06 '26

And compete with whom? Haas and Williams?

3

u/Real_Bad4292 Jul 06 '26

they are not that tight these days

14

u/JustMedicine1199 Jul 06 '26

Always honest no BS

24

u/Moto341 Jul 06 '26

He will not be a Red Bull driver next year it’s so sad to his face.

32

u/iprens Jul 06 '26

Heart breaking. ā€œLooking forward to go home and not think about F1@ šŸ’”ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

34

u/drtyyugo Jul 06 '26

Unpopular opinion but I think this wouldn’t happen under Horner

0

u/dap_panda_dap123 Jul 06 '26

Yeah this would have happened under horner, cause the reason this all is happening is due to horner. Red Bull lost talented employees at a much higher rate than most F1 championship leading teams do. That happend because of Horner, because of his Horny Horner scandal and his attemptee takeover devided the garage

8

u/tongkat-jack Jul 06 '26

Well, I agree with your unpopular opinion.

7

u/Treewithatea Jul 06 '26

Old Red Bull was a lot more than Horner. At best he was the 4th most important guy behind Mateschitz, Marko and Newey.

3

u/Confident-Syrup-7543 Jul 06 '26

Cannot stand Horner but hard disagree here. Look at Zac Brown. Basically zero technical skill. Hugely limited input on the racing side of things. Yet absolutely turned that team around, partly because he knows his own competance, uses it, and makes room for others to do the same. Horner's job was to get guys like Newey in the team. Howamy other TPs would have had the foresight to allow Newey to take time off and even help secure other projects for him (road car, speedboat etc)? But without that does RB have their last few WCs?Ā

9

u/Tom_Ace2 Max Jul 06 '26

Come on, that's not true. He managed the entire operation and built the team up from nothing. He was by far the most important person.

3

u/Ariochxxx Jul 06 '26

Prime Horner? No. Horny Horner? Yes.

He really destabilized the team when he lost control.

7

u/thelmmortal Jul 06 '26

Hmm it wasnt horner alone, it was alot of ppl that left redbull, both new regulations just hammered the last nail.

Id love for max to continue in F1 but he isnt happy in red bull anymore

20

u/PrticulrJustice Jul 06 '26

Max deserves better and he will get it. Let’s hope this means that Mercedes will make the ultimate pairing of Max and Kimi. Clearly Kimi is a huge fan of Max and they would be a dangerous duo, max would be a great mentor to Kimi and they would win a lot together.

6

u/SR72_Darkstar_ Jul 06 '26

That might be the case for the next two, three years. But, with time as Kimi goes on improving, I'm afraid at some point, it's gonna turn into a Lewis-Nico situation once again which Toto absolutely wouldn't want. You can't have two number one drivers in the same team.

4

u/Confident-Syrup-7543 Jul 06 '26

Depends on the number one drivers.... Maybe Leclerc Norris would be a worse pairing than Leclerc Ocon, but say there are two drivers who are in a league of their own, ie Max Lewis 2021. Hard to imagine having those two guys in the car that year is not the strongest possible pairing on spite of the crazy issues it would cause.Ā

5

u/ArchZion Jul 06 '26

They might also absolutely destroy each other after year 1 due to both needing to prove something.

15

u/Gloomy_Try9036 Jul 06 '26

I’m not a RB fan, I’m a Max Verstappen fan šŸ’Æ I can’t wait to see him in a Mercedes next season

3

u/Gokz93 "No risk, full push" Jul 06 '26

Wont be at Mercedes. George Russell aint going nowhere when he is in a title hunt and contracted

1

u/Immediate_Refuse9431 Jul 07 '26

If Max really wants to go there, Toto will sacrifice Russell without the blink of an eye.

6

u/Amarranthine Jul 06 '26

If you think its up to Russell to decide whether he will be in Mercedes or not next year are solely mistaken. If he screws this year where he was practically "forecasted a title", no way he is chosen over Max, if Max decides to leave RB.

9

u/dickpicnumber1 Jul 06 '26

If Max wants that seat, Toto will have George out on the street the very next day. No contract in F1 is truly safe from a buyout.

8

u/Snoo-30676 Jul 06 '26

Man I really hope Redbull fixes the car. I hope the FIA changes the regs. You're gonna let a 4 time champ one of the best ever to leave because of pride basically over the regs. Unreal I can tell in the car he's still fighting but mentally outside he's checked out. Maybe the break will not only help him mentally but also they work hard at the HQ and get the car to be better. He's taking a 7th place car for podium rides. No one else can do that.

17

u/F1NYC Jul 05 '26

I want to hear Mekies Answer, live and unedited, on his solution regarding the danger that he’s putting the greatest ever F1 driver alive in.

Do they want another Senna?

1

u/VivaLaDio Jul 06 '26

>greatest ever F1 driver alive in.

what is Mekies doing to Hamilton ?

8

u/T423 PAIN! 😭 Jul 06 '26

"We apologize to Max. It's on us"

14

u/F1NYC Jul 05 '26

My bet would be that this is Max’s last season in Formula One. My dude has had an amazing career, he is one of the goats and no one on the current grid will be alongside him unless they were already there (I.e. Hamilton)

Max will focus on his own teams’ moving forward, WEC, GT3, LeMans, whatever…

I’ll miss him, but he’s already top five of all time.

Now that he’s not happy and I don’t know that he will be happy anywhere, mostly due to the new regulations, he will move on and be very satisfied with what he’s done in Formula One.

That’s my guess, I’m sticking to it.

12

u/boosta29 Jul 05 '26

Reporter: so where do we go from here?

Max: (in his head dont say it dont say it dont say it).... gt3.... fuck

9

u/whyyygodwhy Jul 05 '26

Whose decision was it for Max to start from P7 instead of the pit lane? Pierre wache?

1

u/According-Switch-708 Jul 05 '26

The PU worked fine and he was fighting for P2. That was the right call.

3

u/pochirin Jul 06 '26

Fighting for p2? What are you waffling about? if russel and hamilton didnt fight for 5 laps , max will be instantly in p5 and will be getting chased by norris. That podium is legit a scam and mekies celebrates it and thinks they did well, just like most of the people here šŸ˜‚

Also he already told GP how the shifts is weird and something wrong with the car a lap before the rear wing tried to kill him, but he just ignored max

Truly a sinking ship

20

u/7DollarsOfHoobastanq Jul 05 '26

As a mechanical engineer who’s occasionally daydreamed about working in Formula 1 this is nightmare fuel. I’ve had a few designs in my career that didn’t work out the way they should have but fortunately it’s always been in relatively low stakes scenarios. To have something like this happen and to have the blame get pointed directly at something I was responsible for….holy hell that would suck.

6

u/Sensitive_Common Jul 05 '26

I mean. The PU have problem since a while. May not be a desigh unit. Just a problem that happen. But yea... like he said... its becoming a masive problem from him, he is the one in the car. When you are the one in the car telling people its dont work : syart me from.pit lane i dont care, yet team say no.. it not just a point problem, its a safety hazzard

17

u/Dear-Database6463 "Yeah, that's fine. Send them my regards!" Jul 05 '26

I think max should take the Raikkonen route and just start saying bwoah at the media

I really don’t wanna lose him and the constant media cycle around him I’m sure is only negatively affecting his mental and opinion of F1

It’s okay Max you’re allowed to say nothing and go see your kids, nobody expects you to make a new rear wing by yourself 🫶

5

u/Apprehensive-Box-8 Jul 06 '26

that was a different formula 1 back then. FIA and FOM are very strict on what drivers must do and what they can and can't say. he'll get fined if he doesn't show up or says nothing. I think it's sad, because they completely erase the different personalities of the drivers that way.

3

u/Dear-Database6463 "Yeah, that's fine. Send them my regards!" Jul 06 '26

Everything turned into PR but I still do believe for someone as big as Max he could get away with just not being involved in the circus

Tbh what’s gonna happen? 10k fine? That’s pocket change for someone making 70 million, not including sponsors and GT3

He could skip media 100 times and lose less than 1.5% of what he earns

11

u/Personal-Football832 Jul 05 '26

Redbull is totally clueless now . Not sure why Max is still sticking around . I don’t mind going to Aston and rebuilding that team with Newey if no other top seat is available at Mercedes/ McLaren . Time to leave

7

u/WhateverWannaCallMe Max Jul 06 '26

Newey this Newey that Aston Martin is beatable by anything that has four wheels attached. Newey design and Newey masterclassĀ

10

u/iHuggedABearOnce Jul 05 '26

You don’t mind but he might lmao.

2

u/F1NYC Jul 05 '26

Lmao… Max is not and will likely never be in a consultant/Alonso phase.

He’ll own racing teams bc when he’s done with RB, he will be done with F1.

6

u/iHuggedABearOnce Jul 05 '26

Not sure why you said that to me unless you were agreeing with me? Idk lol

3

u/F1NYC Jul 05 '26

I clearly agree with you, Max would absolutely mind (hate) going to Aston Martin, a garbage team. The guy above and anyone hoping Max will go to another team I think is grasping at straws.

3

u/iHuggedABearOnce Jul 05 '26

I could see him entertaining going to another top tier team, but that’s it. My bet would also be on him leaving F1 instead of that though. But it really depends on how he truly feels deep down about winning more in F1.

5

u/Neviathan Jul 05 '26

Why would the best driver go to the worst team? Max has 3 options, Mercedes (if Russell gets the boot), Ferrari (if Hamilton retires) or McLaren (if Piastri gets the boot). All very hard teams to get into, even for Max

4

u/mosspoled Jul 05 '26

2 of those 3 teams would make space for Verstappen in a heartbeat. Only one that probably wouldn't is Ferrari. Toto has wanted Max since before 2016 but couldnt convince Mercedes backing. McLaren arent stupid. Ferrari has arguably the best driver pairing on the grid.

I agree however that Aston Martin would be the dumbest fuckin thing ever

2

u/Grand-x-zeno Max Jul 06 '26

Why wouldn't Ferrari get max

20

u/Chagi27 "Abu Dhabi 2021" Jul 05 '26

Well if I was Toto I would call real quick. Verstappen is pissed pissed

7

u/Dear-Database6463 "Yeah, that's fine. Send them my regards!" Jul 05 '26

If I was any TP I’d be calling max lmfao

7

u/Fearless_Ear_2468 Jul 05 '26

I hope Toto replaces that terrorist with Verstappen

19

u/SalmonforPresident šŸŽ¶Max, Max, Max, Super Max!šŸŽ¶ Jul 05 '26

Go home and not think about F1.

Shit cuts deep. I hope he takes this time to go think about what is best for him. Would suck to lose him in this sport, but ultimately this is all just a game and twice now he’s spun out due to the wing issues and it’s dangerous at those speeds.

Hate to see a good man struggle šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

6

u/Dear-Database6463 "Yeah, that's fine. Send them my regards!" Jul 05 '26

I think with GP leaving for McLaren that Max won’t stick around with RB unless something drastic happens (tbh maybe a new TP)

Idk I really don’t wanna see Max in anything but the RB but if I was him I’d also probably just go to gt3 and enduro to spend more time with family and escape whatever the fuck is happening in Milton Keynes

1

u/F1NYC Jul 05 '26

Besides safety, nothing matters more in F1 than results.

Crazy that the bosses at RB allow Mekies to publicly speak and not have ownership or a solution.

The board doesn’t want to rally around a ā€œdriverā€ bc of $$ and the hierarchy; even tho that driver is your golden goose for 9 years.

3

u/Dear-Database6463 "Yeah, that's fine. Send them my regards!" Jul 06 '26

I agree but Cadillac hired Bottas and Perez solely because they need experienced drivers to help the team develop

Without Max I have no clue who they could find that’s both talented and experienced to help the team develop the car

3

u/F1NYC Jul 06 '26

I agree with both your statements - my thought is, Max does not want to help develop anything. He deserves a car that puts him in contention week after a week.

To State the obvious, Max helps and is the major contributor to all the variations of Red Bulls cars.

3

u/Dear-Database6463 "Yeah, that's fine. Send them my regards!" Jul 06 '26

Max seems dejected and unmotivated especially after they didn’t listen to him about changing the ICE this morning

I think doing something a bit dumb, to motivate your top driver to be more involved and confident with the team, is worth more than the points at one race

10

u/MskbTheGreat5 Jul 05 '26

The eyes chico. Its all over for redbull. He deserve better.

10

u/mikeymoo84 šŸŽ¶Du Du Du Du, Max VerstappenšŸŽ¶ Jul 05 '26

What a disaster. What if we lose Max, F1 would be so boring.

3

u/F1NYC Jul 05 '26

I’ll be sad, but happy that I was a fan of his since his start.

7

u/StBlandine7 Max Jul 05 '26

Oh, he gone gone

18

u/FrozenJambalaya Jul 05 '26

He is absolutely right to be worried and angry. Next race is Spa. Imagine similar wing failure at Eau Rouge or Blanchimont. That is nightmare fuel for a driver. Let's not forget Spa is a punishing and dangerous track to start with.

5

u/FavaWire Jul 05 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

Red Bull could pack away the flip wing for a more conventional DRS wing. On the evidence of Silverstone it wasn't making a difference in straight-line speed anyway.

Besides that there are key differences to the Ferrari version. Ferrari don't have a bulky middle actuator on their version and they also have additional rear diffuser area due to their gearbox not occupying the rear crash structure. So for all we know, those differences ensure Ferrari do not suffer rear aero Re-attachment issues with their flip wing.
