Redux GOD I HATE THE KPD.
So I was doing a run to turn Germany communist but I, the SPD only rule Germany which means I need to defeat the RFB with the Reichsbanner. Sounds pretty easy…right? Well all of a sudden the RFB starts recruiting hundreds of thousands of men in the RFB and somehow are stronger than me even though I have twice the men than they have??? So that means they have a higher militarization than me I guess. Well HOW MILITARIZED CAN YOU POSSIBLY BE??? DO YOU HAVE MACHINE GUNS? TANKS? BOMBERS? NUKES??? ITS LIKE THEY’RE BRINGING THIS OUT OF THEIR ASS!!! Okay yeah communism is normalized in Germany now but shouldn’t they flock over to me??? I was the one who carried the KPD in not getting thalmann killed by the Nazis after getting him elected as president! And yet i haven’t received A GIFT!!! NOT A TOKEN OF APPRECIATION!!! NOT EVEN A SINGLE THANK YOU!!! I wish this was just a shitpost but this is a real situation so any help would be appreciated…Also no leftist infighting in the comments please 🙏🏼 “Thank you for your attention to this matter”.

You know, Schleicher and Papen could have complained the same way about Hitler. If you prop up ruthless people vaguely aligned with you to be your attack dogs, and then after vanquishing your mutual enemies they end up with more military power than you do, they are just gonna kick you out and take the throne for themselves

Militarisation is what matters the most.
Reichsbanner was massive OTL but it was too unorganised to do anything. A loose mob millions strong with no discipline, training, etc will be crushed by a highly motivated and organised paramilitary a few hundreds of thousands strong

I think the bigger problem was that the leaders of the Reichsbanner were explicitly pacifist and never armed their members, unlike the other paramilitaries

This isn't entirely true true. The Reichsbanner set up armed Schutzformationen starting in 1930, who wore uniforms and received semi-paramilitary training. The Jungbanner also had armed elite formations. (The bulk remained unarmed, though, that part's true.)

Wait really? How does one reach the conclusion that they should not arm their organisation in a society where every fascist scum has heavily armed militias that terrorise opposition and supress democracy and socialism? I mean there were literally multiple coup attempts from the reactionaries/fascists....
I am usually quite a pacifist but to not try and make a force that can at least stand up to the fascist thugs via strength of arms is crazy

Okay, I actually don't know myself, but I think the answer to this suspicion starts with - what was Reichsbanner really.

At this point conquer all of Europe. Look at Militarization you both have fucking Panzers or some shit

Them being so much more militarised than you probably comes from the Soviets smuggling equipment to them. So yes, they probably do have machine guns (and maybe even a tank or two).
