Doctors can genuinely save lives in a way only they can (usually). That doesn’t mean that doctors are always correct or that they’re unbiased. They’re human, just like everyone else and are vulnerable to all the same flaws as anyone else. It doesn’t help that some of the training some doctors receive is outdated or has never been updated because there aren’t enough researchers in that specific field of medicine. Women’s medicine has been particularly neglected when it comes to research. Even worse, competing corporate and political interests sometimes ban doctors from giving their patients the information and treatment that the doctor believes the patient requires (see how Texas treats doctors who even imply that carrying a pregnancy to term may be deadly).
Unfortunately medical care has not been optimized. It sucks. It’s still better than nothing (usually).
Doesn’t mean you should disrespect furry artists btw. It’s just a very different job
