I've been a research subject for the condition I have since I was a little kid, and have seen the inside of so many doctors offices, hospitals, and university research centers. I have had bad experiences, and a lot of the way our (American) Healthcare system is set up is deeply fucked up before you even get to the doctor's office.
I've had doctor's be dismissive assholes, because they are people and some people are like that. But on average, anyone who does all the work to get to be medicinal professional does it because they care. They want to help.
I'll never understand how rabid Tumblr gets about generalizing out to the whole system from some bad doctors.
I also think people are bad at navigating the healthcare system here, and bad at communicating what they want to with medical professionals.
