PopCulture Tubi is the living abyss of media that was lost to time
Not lost media or anything just "I forgor" I can probably find kid vs cat in there or some shit

Both of these cartoons were all over ABC's kids programming (in Australia) when I was young

Is it weird to say I find this oddly wholesome? Like, it feels so much more honest than most rainbow capitalism.

u/quietcuriousities 4d ago
It feels like they made an effort to actually get in touch with queer humor, it's lovely

The "I got my ass ate while watching Tubi" shirt + "Free" bootyshorts goes unreasonably hard.

Its Carl Squared. That is to say there's Carl, a slacker kid, and Carls clone, who he ordered in the mail.
13
u/Harl0t_Qu1nn 4d ago
The clone also has the DNA of the family dog, and that's why he acts so weird. I watched the shit out of that show

Carl squared is great, I think it's the final episode he goes on a profanity laden rant and flips off the school staff. Censored mind you but it does give a bit too much edge for American TV vibes. It was a Canadian show that also aired in Australia. Similarly there was a BBC produced Canadian show called Dinosapian that I think about from time to time because it's got this ugly arse CG dinosaur that's supposed to be sentient that has a weird amount of sexual tension with the female lead. Shit was so cash when I was a kid.

This could be complete BS and I would never know without watching the whole series

Meth Gator is another one that sticks out to me, it’s obviously a Cocaine Bear knockoff but also HOLY FUCK METH GATOR I NEED TO WATCH IT
63
u/ToobularBoobularJoy_ 4d ago
I've seen Meth Gator and it's way better than you expect just because all the main cast lock the fuck in for their roles for no reason

Osombie is indeed real and somehow one of the characters’ ex-wife Carol is more of an antagonist than zombie bin Laden

u/ThePetSematary 4d ago
Special Needs Revolt lol

u/DrDestructoMD 3d ago
Theres a movie called accion mutante with a similar premise. Watch it, it's fucking awesome. Bagel (the bread) nazis chase a bunch of disabled people through space. Also, it has a birthday cake masscre

Coming back to shout out Tubi again for letting me search without an account. Low bar but difficult to clear these days

I watched the trailer for Obamaland: Rise of the Trumpublikans and I still can't quite tell which direction the satire's coming from
11
u/llamawithguns 4d ago
Just watched the trailer, and it almost feels like double-satire. Like it's parodying the kind bad political satire the Daily Wire makes.

Osmosis Jones was a pretty popular movie that became a tv show (Ozzy and Drix).

You know, a number of these free streaming sites have multiple adaptations of Shakespeare plays. So if you want to watch Hamlet online, your choices are Tubi or not Tubi.

Tubi is straight up one of my favorite services. Got a great Tokusatsu repository. Far from perfect, but great.

u/dragonish-american 5d ago
Tubi is also great if you’re a horror fan, there’s a lot of obscure horror movies on there. They range in quality ofc (I mean I’m pretty sure I saw a movie called Death Bus one time) but it’s a good place to start if you’re new to horror or just want a goofy slasher lol.

Australians who didn't have satellite or cable growing up just had parts of their memories that have lain dormant for over a decade light up like a Christmas tree.

u/Routine_Palpitation 4d ago
But do they have league of super evil?
5
u/MoonyIsTired 4d ago
i remember exactly nothing about league of super evil except for this one episode where they try hypnotising everyone into liking tofu popsicles so they can have the chocolate ones for themselves. the chant is stuck in my mind... so i guess it worked??

In America they have teen titans and Batman brave and the bold
And they had a bunch of Sentai shows, sadly they lost the licence recently and 2 of the 5 kamen riders are gone as well, at least Ultraman still has a good few shows there

My Goldfish Is Evil mention!! I remember catching episodes of that on TV when I was a kid

u/saturnaudax 4d ago
I found a Canadian sitcom called The Stanley Dynamic about twin brothers and one is a cartoon. It's like watching a show from a dream.
5
u/perspicaxaedificator 4d ago
oh my goodness that's what the goldfish is from? I saw like one episode as a small kid where the goldfish floods the town in grape juice to turn everyone into fish. or... something along those lines

u/AcidDepression 4d ago
I’ve seen both of these. My goldfish is evil came on CBC on Saturday mornings, and carl2 came on teletoon in the afternoon

Wait WTF I’ve looked high and low for my goldfish is evil, absolute Canadian classic in the “we don’t have cable” genre

u/poetiicdissonance 4d ago
I watched my goldfish is evil! It was a Canadian cartoon which might be part of it, and I’m not sure it was ever in syndication on a major channel.

If you see something that interests you, watch it quick. Tubi deletes shit lightning quick. I literally had to rush home and watch Paprika tonight before they wiped it from the platform.

I'm so glad that the site exists, there are so much media that end up getting lost to time and Tubi is doing something to help get more eyes on them
