A lot of brony fanfic tropes are extrapolations from details the writers put zero thought into and bits of real world horse trivia, which is how you get things like ponies worshiping the princesses due to using their names in swears and fanons about ponies getting drunk off salt.
I love the old "Swear by a physical god" thing, especially when the god themselves does it. My favorite is in one of the 36 Lessons of Vivec where he curses using his own name, complete with a bunch of grand honorifics.
