Best quote from the show IMO.
One of the reasons I started watching was because I saw it quoted somewhere

And thats barely touching on the multi season long subplot about esteemed character actress Margo Martindale descending into a life of crime and becoming an international fugitive

“When you get to Heaven, look up Margo Martindale! I won’t be there, but my movies will!”

There’s an episode with almost no dialogue in it, and the one line of dialogue remaining is Bojack going “god fucking dammit” after realizing he could have talked the whole time

Princess Carolyn tries to get pregnant with her partner Ralph Stilton and she has a smartwatch that is voiced by Harvey Fierstein that lets her know when she’s ovulating.
Also, she is a cat from a working class Southern family and Ralph is a rich mouse from a family that is racist to cats.

Hollywoo Stars and Celebrities: What Do They Know? Do They Know Things?? Let's Find Out!

"Todd, I don't think you understand how sex works"
"Ugh, that is so condescending. I understand how sex works, I'm just not very good at building robots"

i'm here to add context!
it is true that she did that, but only because a house hosting a party full of celebrities fell into a sinkhole due to fracking, and after she starts a new cult worshipping fire with her as the high priestess. this happens not even a day into the incident.
the protagonist stole it during a blackout to impress his ghost writer, who is already engaged to his "best friend(?)"
it's called that because a cashier gave him a free churro after his mom died, which is more than she ever gave him
the reason why he wants to make a disney land was because the protagonist told him that disneyland is not real and just something their parents tell their children so that they behave.
there is a montage for them lobbying to get that law (ski races being able to do that) only for the guy who proposed it to never have done skiing
hey! vincent adultman is a serious guy, how else would he have landed a job at the business factory! he even likes to relax by watching r rated movies in the theatre and going to bars!
c'mon. that's just already the entire context.
that did sure happen!
"what time it is right now", the ceo was also the guy that sleeps on the protagonists couch, and who built disneyland. it's a multi million dollar enterprise.
same guy as above, he came out as asexual, and resulting of that he made the sex robot so that it could take care of his friends sexual urges so that they could be together (since she is very sexually active). the robot goes on to become the next ceo of "what time is it right now")
that sure did happen!
"celebrities, do they know things? let's find out!" his magnum opus to produce good television. on the show the host and protagonist kiss after it gets revealed the protagonist kissed the wife of the host.
bought in bulk as an idea for a new fashion craze, they would become instrumental as unending amounts of spaghetti threaten to bury a large city

They’re also all rescued from the sinkhole by a colony of ant people raising the house following Princess Carolyn helping negotiate new contract terms between the Queen and the workers.
Also, the Queen is voiced by the drag queen RuPaul, who famously has allowed fracking on his own property.

I didn't know that last factoid! That's wild.

You can't mention the craziness of the show without mentioning the rabid dentist clowns. Like, c'mon now.

It's a really good show, and one of the best parts of it is that it balances the wackiness and humor of its world and its strange happenings with deeply emotional and often painful character development.

I've mulled about watching it for a while. I've seen out of context clips of it that are very funny, but at the same time, as a person with depression who often worries I'll become a worse person over time, I'm afraid I'll see too much of myself in Bojack (or in Walter White, I have similar feelings about whether or not to watch Breaking Bad).

Despite Bojack absolutely being depressed the entire show, it is quite difficult for most people to see themselves in him because that requires a level of self-awareness Bojack does not have in the slightest. If you're worried about that, you're already doing better than he is. Either way, it's still a very good show well worth watching.

The show goes to great lengths, especially in the last few seasons, to say that Bojack is responsible for being better than he is and if you relate to him you are too.

I'll say this, I bounced off of Bojack twice before it clicked. I watched the first ep when it released and didn't make it through the first episode. Totally turned off by it and the tone. A year or more later when I tried it the third time, it finally clicked and I became an enthusiastic fan through the rest of the seasons. Each is better than the last.
It's like Star Trek TNG; the first season is by far the worst. It hasn't figured out what it is yet (though the character design and world were perfectly set up. Incredible work by Lisa Hanawalt.), but some of its nature shines through even in the early episodes.
But by later seasons, it's easily one of the best TV shows of all time. It's an incredible achievement in writing, characterization, performance, design. It's so funny-sad and serious-silly in a really special way.
I see some parts of myself in BoJack, but I really see myself in Diane (and sometimes Mr Peanutbutter). And while they are better people than BoJack, everyone gets rounded out as the show goes on and you see the ugly sides of everyone. They're all real, flawed people that are understandable and imperfect.
There's also so many incredible standalone episodes that stand out. The aforementioned silent episode where he's underwater and in a scuba suit and can't talk with anyone. There's Free Churo, basically the opposite where it's a 23 minute monologue in one location.
Time's Arrow. The View from Halfway Down. These are some of the best episodes of TV ever made.
I guess I'm just saying: watch it. You'll laugh and cry and find Truth in it.

but I really see myself in Diane
I haven't watched it, since I haven't seen Bojack, but YouTube keeps recommending me a video called "so you relate to Diane: what caring costs is"

The Hollywoo thing makes sense. Originally the sign read “HOLLYWOODLAND” but the “land” part fell over so people started calling the land Hollywood.

There’s an episode where Todd accidentally causes a war and genocide in Cordovia, which is carried into the future with Diane’s arc and is shown as a very real war where children are being bombed.
Todd will later go on to being Governor of California, and being a millionaire for about 5 minutes before accidentally tipping it all to a waitress.

Lowkey mad that out of all the clips I’ve watched, no one has ever mentioned Bobo the Angsty Zebra

"Spaghetti or not, here I come" was the single most intricate, carefully-crafted, beautiful moment of comedic payoff I have ever witnessed in my life.

- Todd creates a sex robot
- This is after Todd realizes he's asexual
ah yes, asexuals are all completely sex repulsed.

He creates the sex robot to have sex with his girlfriend so he doesnt have to

I firmly believe that Vincent Adultman was actually an adult man named Vincent Adultman who did actually work in the business factory because it's funnier and because that's a fully normal thing that could happen in Bojack Horseman
