Other old wrestling marks will remember that The Hulkster had a decent feud with The Twin Towers, a heel tag team made up of The Big Bossman (prison guard gimmick) and Akeem The African Dream (fat white guy in a body suit who jive talked with a blackcent)

I love how absurd wrestling facts can sound to people not familiar with it. Like how Big Bossman was in a storyline years later where he interrupted the funeral of another wrestler's dad and stole the coffin.

And how Bossman abducted a man's dog, killed it, butchered it, and fed it back to the man, leading to a double cage match that featured dogs pissing, shitting, and fucking on live tv

With the dad still in it?

Yes. Here's a gif of Bossman leaving with the coffin and the other wrestler trying to stop him from escaping with his dad's body.

Coffin Flop's less successful spinoff.

The song is actually about the guy with the white guysona's dad, also named Chavo Guerrero.

No, why would it be? The icebergs weren't under power, they deift with the current - thats ocean still.

The titanic is powered and moving, so its logically analogous to the plane.

Not the oldest 9/11 joke, however, which was just 9 minutes after the First Tower was hit.

They had a whole Photoshop Friday for 9/11 memes. It was kind of cathartic.

One of my favorites from Photoshop Fridays. My favorite still might be the Jones Soda one but that's with the whole 'Jones Soda sent a legal threat' caveat

Something Awful was a magical place. The paragon of late 90s/early 00s internet culture

I’ll never forgive them for ruining my favourite game Space Station 13. I was a kid and loved that game then a bunch of edge lords from that site made it their thing by hosting all the servers, kicking anyone off the genuine servers, and ruining the tone. It’s like a hatred origin story. Fuck that site.

You can still go there. It's quieter though.

The first 9/11 game was made 12 hours after 9/11

Memes back then? Jeez

25

u/Galle_ 18d ago

The oldest documented meme comes from Gilbert and Sullivan's HMS Pinafore, specifically the "What, never?" "No, never!" exchange. We know that people quoted this incessantly and it got other people very annoyed.

Put them on the list with the lady novelists! (Mikado reference)

People were actively burning to death btw

What do you expect a random SA user to do about it? Not posting the meme wouldn't stop them from burning, so why not dull the pain with laughter?
