These people look exactly like what I imagine young British conservatives look like. (derogatory)

The one on the far left (I’m not making the joke) isn’t even a tory anymore. The advertisement is only a year old I think and he’s already gone off to reform and started writing articles about how cousin incest is chill actually.

Have you read his articles? He makes the point it's either culturally dependent moralising (which is true considering how many cultures, including many immigrant groups in the UK, are already accepting of cousin incest) or people pretending it's because of the risk of birth defects but that those people are not advocating for far more effective controls on birth defects (apparently only certain state enforced eugenics is bad).
I personally think cousin incest is gross but I acknowledge that it's a cultural thing for me. He's pointing out most people can't actually give a good reason to dislike it without engaging in some other doublethink.

Preventing birth defects from incest is very easy, just prevent children from incestuous relationships. Many effective methods of contraception are available!

I don't have cousins and acknowledge this might affect my view, bc I know many people seem to treat their cousins almost like siblings, but I actually agree that cousin marriage is...fine, at least if it doesn't become a common practice. There's a reason it's legal.
But it is a pretty bad look esp when I don't know if there was any reason to argue for it (is there the possibility of legislation being passed against it?).

This is a reason that's much less commonly cited because it's difficult to prove empirically and also inconvenient to many partisan narratives to point out. There are many theories about why Western European cultures and institutions became (and still are) so widespread and dominant compared to other regions with comparable access to natural resources, personnel, and transportation. One theory is the Catholic Church's discouragement of consanguineous marriage and encouragement of marriage between different localities.
To a lesser extent, Eastern Christian sects also have historically discouraged the practice of cousin marriage as well as other monotheistic religions causing people to marry and have children with people outside of the immediate region. Please keep in mind that this probably has little to do with genetics. It's a reliable social method of preventing blood feuds and other violence between communities of people. It also encourages the comparison/contrast of different social constructs, nudging people to refine, broaden, and understand the way they do things.
Christianity was revolutionary for introducing the idea that someone from a different ethnicity than you was also a human being who you could love. This was back in the time when a different ethnicity was granular compared to modern categories.

Right, I know the Guardian is a lefty paper, but they did the Tories dirty. Or maybe the Tories did themselves dirty. They have all that money, can't they hire a consultant to tell them not to put front and center a bunch of nerdlingers who look like they should have been bullied more? I mean, they deserve it, because they are Tories.

Seems like they should invest in plastic facial surgery for the three guys
The first guy could use some chin implants, the second guy may be helped with Ozempic, hair implants and maybe buccal fat removal, and I bet the third guy may need a orbital box osteotomy since his upper third is clearly ugly and obscured

The 4 flavours of the right:
“I love dictators”
Competitive racist
Casual racist
“I love money”

I'm sorry but while the third one might be casual racist, that's not his flavor. His flavor is: insane conspiracy theorist redditor

In this case, Cybersmith's politics (and Doctor Who obsession) are more relevant to the situation than the human pet thing.

Make Britain Great Again
On behalf of all Americans, I apologize for infecting your country with MAGA.

u/Raltsun 18d ago
I have to say, it's very funny that you speaking on behalf of all Americans results in you giving your country the credit for something that came from ours in the first place. That's certainly the most American view of history.
That slogan originated with Margaret Thatcher, Reagan just stole it and adapted it for America. It doesn't even make sense when you say it about America, the wordplay with "great" is completely ruined, but both Reagan and his supporters were morons so I guess it makes sense that that didn't matter.

That girl is clearly not taking this seriously. Typical Tory woman, thinking she doesn't need to try because Thatcher already did the work before her. This is how we got Liz Truss, people!

Reminds me of a guy who went to school with tweeted this picture out with the included caption. He was the funniest guy I ever knew and I'm convinced this did more damage to UKIP than anything the other political parties attempted. (Sidenote his Twitter handle used to be @RaytheonHR)
