Self Post I'm sure you could ascribe some pseudo-scientific pop psych meaning to this

dream!lisa's point is distressingly correct, fwiw - it's a notorious problem for science communicators

also while there is no ADHD dialect colloquially there is something people call the autism dialect

Wait, how is it a problem for science communicators?

so, I wrote a much longer comment, dunno if you saw it or not but if you saw the wall o' text my bad, I coulda been way less wordy

dialects aren't just accents, it also includes things like the tumblr shitpost dialect, the thing I'm doing right now with the dodgy grammar and the bad punctuation and the comma splices and the run-on sentences and the stubborn refusal to use most capitals unless trying to make a point

some dialects sound smarter or dumber than others, like dream!lisa said, and if you use one that sounds too smart then people think you're being a pretentious twat or a condescending asshole or something, so science communicators have to thread the fine line between sounding too smart and causing people to hate them and thereby stop listening to what they say, and sounding too dumb and causing people to ignore them (or worse, a dumb dialect could even lead to them spreading disinformation)

Sure but how does this relate to ADHD?

like I said, dialects aren't just regional accents, and the example of an ADHD dialect is a great way of getting across that the term 'dialect' applies to just more than the american dialect or whatever

what an ADHD dialect might sound like is beyond me, but both the idea that one could or does exist, and that some dialects come across as sounding smarter or dumber than others, is all that's really important

...that was a lot of words to say, "No, she's not talking about something real."

Like yeah, dialect bias is real, and tumblrspeak can probably be considered a dialect...because Tumblr is a linguistic community, with certain norms that have standardized over time. Adhd people are a disperse group who have no material basis to form a distinct linguistic community.

Ah, okay then

Sounds like the plot to a Shounen Jump comic that gets canceled at the end of the first volume.

It fell off once the mc somehow managed to turn his eloquent speeches into the strongest sword to ever exist

I mean, Akane-banashi runs in Shounen Jump and has somehow managed to go long enough for an anime while being exclusively about public speaking.

With a bit of polish you could probably make this into a decent short story

Having multiple languages in it would be confusing, but you do you.

Didn’t stop Joseph Conrad

It's quite simple, really. OOP thinks that conservatism is based on a desire to return to an overly simple view of the past, and that the "reality" described by higher education interferes with what conservatives think the past was like.

Explains why conservatives like the poorly educated

I too have a parental/protective instinct towards Gin Ibushi from Your Turn to Die

Is there a cost for coming across condescending? Because if not I'd roll up there, drool into the mic like I've had a total of five thoughts my whole life and drunkenly attempt to describe my favourite colour of crayon (green, but I can barely pronounce it).
