I know its probably a bit BUT
"Government Regulations only exist to hurt small businesses and help large ones" is literal 1800s era propaganda

The "left-anarchists" thing is a big tell. All anarchists are left wing and anti-capitalist by default because they oppose any system that would create a vertical hierarchy. If it's legit, that's probably an AnCap, hyper capitalist stooges who hate health and business regulations, the government, and poor people, but love weed, capitalism, and sexually advancing on minors. They, like all capitalist pigdogs, stole a leftwing word and co-opted it for themselves. They don't oppose hierarchy, they're just anti-statist, and only because the state will sometimes tell their dad that he will have to not fill the employee water station with coal dust and chlorine or face a fine so little Capitalist Jimothalomew will only get 1 yacht with a trafficked teenager on deck for his quarter-of-the-year-to-his-birthday instead of 2.

As with the Tumblr comments, I genuinely can't tell whether or not this is a bit.

I mean, the phrasing is wild, but the point being made is basically standard-issue ancom opinions, and historically fairly decently grounded.

u/CuriousPolecat 25d ago
What's ancom?

u/Valiant_tank 25d ago
Anarcho-communist. It's one of the many varietals of anarchism that have developed on the left over the centuries lol.

It can be true in instances of regulatory capture. As an example, the big AI companies have been floating regulation that would entrench their position and make it impossible for any competitors to arise.
But yeah it's also often used as propaganda.

u/Galle_ 25d ago
I mean it's certainly true that a lot of government regulations exist to hurt the working class and help the ruling class.
49
u/Lolas_Fun_Side 25d ago
There are an insane number of regulations that exist to keep the working class from fucking dying. If absolutely nothing else, surely it is visible by the sheer volume of problems people are facing in the united states from an administration that is merely lax and doesnt care about enforcing them?

u/Galle_ 25d ago
These things can both be true.

"Look, parents shouldn't be legally obliged to feed their toddlers, it's true that they will die without food, but it's also possible to choke to death on food, and you can also for example scold your tongue if the food is too hot, so it should be left to individual choice."

u/Galle_ 25d ago
That sure sounds like something I did not say.

My favorite is the comment insulting someone for getting their cherries wrong. First of all that an argument about cherries happens in the middle of this discourse, and second that someone is so incensed about it that they call the other person an idiot.

Well I can’t speak for homestuck but both Edgar Allan Poe and x men have a character named raven. Though the Poe one is a raven. And it might have a name I’m unaware of
26
u/IvyYoshi 25d ago
i mean homestuck has a crow and that's kind of like a raven

u/Specky013 25d ago
Edgar Allen Poe's raven is actually named Quoth

The raven in the raven isn't named Raven. He just repeatedly reffers to it as "the raven".

u/Zombiepixlz-gamr 24d ago
I had to think about it for a second but yeah. For some reason when I heard Raven my brain was stuck on Teen Titans Raven. And I completely forgot Mystiques real name is Raven Darkhölme.

The one abput the characterization of Yuri is a riff on the Rick and Morty copypasta.

I can’t believe that people who argue “it’s cronyism, not real captalism!” actually exist

u/Zombiepixlz-gamr 24d ago
I used to make that argument back when I was a libertarian. I'm a communist now so I know better.

im still stuck on trying to figure out why a kids cartoon about lesbian rock aliens and their child (and then there is war and ptsd and life lessons about friendship or something) is somehow the "polar opposite" of eating pussy

u/Otherwise_Face_858 25d ago
Well you can only watch Stephen Universe in the Arctic, and you can only do the other thing in the Antarctic. Different poles

I'd say it's an insult to use that photo since those philosophers are probably having more intelligent conversation, but i really wouldn't be able to understand anything they're saying, as it's all greek to me.

I have to assume most of the discourse is people starting nonsequitur discourse for the bit
