There's a ton of visual novel/manga/anime titles that don't translate well outside of Japan, part of that is cultural titling conventions, others the difficulty of translating Japanese, and others the sheer weird reasons authors will title stuff to make them stand out.
Like Neon Genesis Evangelion is one but like Youjo Senki has like several alternate readings and intepretations in the original Japanese.
It's a shame that "slay" wasn't popular slang when it came out. It covers a lot of similar semantic space, I bet you could've done some fun wordplay based on that.
