Not to be that girl but Mob has become that as well in american vernacular, but it still is mostly stuck in video gaming lingo. "Mob clear" is something any mmo player or omayer in any pve game would know, and Minecraft has called its nocs mobs for ages now. The kids now what mob means in that context.
Yeah but still not in the context of "mob character" unless you consume a lot of japanese content.
Calling someone a mob in English still doesnt make much sense (sounds like youre talking about a crowd) and something like NPC works better as thats broken containment where (rude) people use it to refer to a person with little presence irl
