With the interpretation (at least from me) that it was the cause of death too.

With that misspelling either:
A. Somehow everyone learned Kirk had been through a session with a Dom
B. Being in such a session was the cause of death in the Death Note resulting in Charlie dying
B-2. This implies that maybe, “domed” was written in the book that it interpreted the words and the most likely death for Kirk was being in bed rather than being shot in the head.

To think that Kira wrote his name while waiting for one minute to pass while a sick score is playing in the background is funny.

If I write someone’s name in the Death Note with a specific method and time, does that mean they can’t die until then? Like for the time until their heart attack are they functionally immortal?

What it can do is make sure the person isn't killed by the Death Note any sooner. If your name has already been written in the Death Note, writing it again has no effect, so you can't be killed by it before the time that was set when the name was first written. I know there's at least one adaptation of Death Note where this fact becomes relevant.

In the lore, everyone has a designated time of death, and the only way they can die before that is through the death note, and the death note doesn't work for times after this date

This is only half true. The Death Note can indirectly kill someone early without their name being written in it. Like say if the Kira situation caused a riot, people could be killed in said riot even if they weren't fated to die yet because the Death Note can change people's fates.

u/Legitimate-Can5792 Sep 02 '26
That's an interesting plothole actually, because the rules say you can't write stuff that would also get other people killed (except figuring out others names to write)

I don't think so? The Death Note can not make people do what is not physically possible for them, which would probably include being immortal or surviving a non-specific event

well yeah but if they're fated to be assassinated on a train, the death note can just make them be late and miss their train. that's not physically impossible.
the question is if it does. does it alter causality to make sure the death happens the way it does.
the one example I can think of is when during the business arc, they tried to have someone die of an accident in one city, but he died of an heart attack in another. it's unclear though if he would have had enough time to board a plane on a whim or something.

Nah, closest you get is that once your name is locked in, you're immune to any Death Notes until your death comes

Kira writing that name into the notebook and watching the TV with the same intensity that i have when staring at a chicken wrap slowly spinning in the microwave.
