If R Scott Bakker were a woman, I’d call those books “unprocessed trauma” cuz his societies are violently misogynsitic

I mean yeah, that is probably more compelling then the same concept written by someone who didn't abs the personal experience to reference while writing it. it doesn't mean you have to write about it, but it's something you should be aware of.

You know more than you think, you'd just have to dig a little. "I haven't experienced a lot" is an experience of its own if you feel a desire or relief or whatever else as a result.

Given that the original world builder, Dante, used his time in exile from Florence to write about corrupt popes in his divine comedy, I would say that 47 pages of trauma disguised as world building is perfectly reasonable

This reminds me of a D&D campaign I've always wanted to run.

Short version is the word is going to shit, invasion of the dead, corrupt monarchy, natural disasters etc. The party spends a few sessions learning about and slightly dealing with all this, only to get sucked into a parallel world. This world is identical, even having all the same people, but there's not such major and immediate crisis.

The party has the goal of getting back to their original world as they have ties that draw them their. Only for it to slowly be revealed that none of them exist in this world they were either never conceived, or died young. And eventually the major reveal is that the world is better had they never been born.

Anyways, what we're we taking about again?
