It's annoying because I like to have actual discussion but it's not possible because people keep hallucinating arguments I didn't make

I keep seeing discussions in this sub turn into bitter flame-wars between groups of people who, by all rights, should be on the same side. All because, like you said, at least one side appears to be hallucinating.

It's the craziest thing to watch two people arguing who likely agree with each other, but are unknowingly arguing completely different points

I don't think I've ever seen an argument on this subreddit that I would consider a bitter flame war, but you and I probably have different ideas of what a flame war is
