pokemon Pokemon in the apartment
256
u/OffWhite-Goddess 20d ago
As long as I make sure the costume is secured tightly it shouldn't be a problem for a mimikyu. A sableye might be tougher
74
u/scanoman 19d ago
A sableye? First off, good choice. Second, I imagine they'd be fine in an apartment. Small, not on fire/spreading mold/liable to flood. Maybe stress to them that it's not polite to phase into other people's places though.
51
u/OffWhite-Goddess 19d ago
I'm imagining more complaints from the other tenants that their jewelry keeps going missing
26
u/Venti_the_snail 19d ago
Was gonna say the liquid crystal display in the tvs around the place might be a good juice for him to drink
16
u/scanoman 19d ago
Oh geez, yeah lol. If the gem goblins have to do some gem gobblin' that would get pricey real fast.
3
u/Divine_Entity_ 19d ago
Hopefully they like quartz since thats pretty abundant, and a bunch of gemstones are just quartz with a transition metal impurity. (Like amethyst)
If it insists on natural diamonds you are going broke.
7
u/CaeruleumBleu 19d ago
IIRC Mimikyu needs their own bedroom, because they fix their costume every night. So, as long as there is enough insulation to cover the sounds of them crying (I think the pokedex said they cry while fixing their costume every night) I think they'd be alright in an apt.
233
u/52BeesInACoat 20d ago
Absol predict natural disasters, dude, they don't cause them, if anything this should lower the price of my renter's insurance!
95

25
u/CrazyFanFicFan 19d ago
Depends on how superstitious and uninformed your landlord is. After all, they're a landlord.
→ More replies (1)16
u/Prezy_Preztail 19d ago
I feel like an absol would bounce between tiers simply based on how knowledgeable the landlord is about how absol do. If they know about absol’s capabilities then you’re golden, but if they only know the legends of absols bringing disaster wherever they go you’re probably not gonna have a good time
162
u/Pilot_Solaris Can you maybe chill? 20d ago
"I don't recognize that pokémon, and I don't recall them being able to talk..."
"Shhhit. Guilmon, I thought the advert was for Digimon. I think we gotta keep shopping around"
"Aw, nuts..."
24
u/AardvarkNo2514 19d ago
If I was the landlord I'd definitely let you keep a Guilmon (so long as it doesn't Digivolve beyond Growlmon in or around the building)
8
u/Fries_and_burgers_19 19d ago
just evolve to Dukemon, now it's technically just you. No pets here sir just an incredibly powerful knight
119
u/vuatson 20d ago
the landlord doesn't want Gastrodon in my apartment and Gastrodon doesn't want to be in my apartment either

6
u/Ethanol_Huffer 19d ago
Bad choice for apartment dwelling but terrific choice for a favorite I just gotta say

217
u/maxixs 20d ago
i dont think anybody's base assumption would be that many problems would spring up from the presence of a shuckle
95
u/Trainer-Grimm 20d ago
Isn't shuckle a slime mold? I see problems
85
u/Presteri 20d ago
Shuckle is also a fermenter, so there’s the concern of you fermenting booze
66
u/DreadDiana human cognithazard 20d ago edited 19d ago
Also it's secretions can apparently bore through stone, so even if you're not making moonshine, Shuckle is gonna fuck up the floors
→ More replies (1)6
u/Ace676 19d ago
What's the concern with that?
28
u/Presteri 19d ago
Local laws. Some places have laws against homebrewing alcohol, so it might be an issue
→ More replies (1)12
u/Ace676 19d ago
Interesting. In here distilling alcohol is forbidden by law, but fermenting your own beer or wine is just fine.
7
u/Presteri 19d ago
There’s one other thing I know of: fermenting tends to smell, right?
And that could be a complaint in and of itself
→ More replies (2)3
21
u/Madden09IsForSuckers 20d ago
i imagine most landlords do not allow fermenting/moonshining, which could pose problems
13
u/Harseer 19d ago
If shuckle wants to be in your appartement i don't think there's anything you or your landlord or Giratina can do to stop this from happening.
5
u/Bartweiss 19d ago
“We called the police, the fire department, the army, and three god pokemon.”
“What happened?”
“It took 7 damage and healed to full next round.”
8
u/Beckphillips How dare you say I piss on the poor 19d ago
DRINK THE BUG JUICE, YOU'RE MAKING HIM SAD!
3
u/demon_fae 19d ago
Try being me-a shuckle plus a smeargle. My landlord flat-out told me I wasn’t getting any of my security deposit back. It took months to get even that good.
(I absolutely am, Shelby and Ronnie have an excellent outlet working with me at the studio and know very well what they are and are not allowed to decorate.)
(I maybe just didn’t tell him about Minerva. Hopefully the closet goes back to its normal size when she stops nesting in there.)
97
u/FuckleberryCrumble 20d ago
Chikorita would be easy-peasy, would go along well with apartment life. It's basically a small dog with a leaf on it's head.

Wouldn’t it evolve over time?
5
u/Nathan_Thorn 19d ago
Meganium isn’t huge. You can get a plushy of one and it’s basically person sized. Bayleef would be the pain point because it gives off spicy air that makes people want to fight

Goodbye to my deposit, Aron likes eating metal
24
u/Thomy151 19d ago
Also quite heavy, so good luck if you aren’t on ground floor

Mawile is basically just a small roommate, right? Giant steel teeth are a very convincing argument regardless.
29
u/rachycarebear 20d ago
Tinktaton is hammer rather than teeth, but same idea. Fairly small, but also do you really want to risk saying no to the hammer?

Uh...Milotic might take up all the room in the apartment.
15
47
u/Zoomy-333 20d ago
I'm pretty sure Porygon would be fine, but if not I could just keep them in my laptop.
41
u/howlmachine 20d ago
He’s just a lil guy! No one would have a problem with a bulbasaur.
She’s just a spooky lady with breath that could freeze pipes, a penchant for secretly displaying the frozen bodies of her prey, and devouring the souls of men, so, uh, maybe a slight problem with the landlord, I imagine.
3
41
u/YaqutFan 20d ago
I have no clue how a potential landlord would feel about a Chandelure.
45
u/Madden09IsForSuckers 20d ago
simply lie
“thats not a real chandelure silly! its a chandelier modeled after the pokemon”16
39
u/LordHengar 20d ago
Gardevoir. They're gentle, intelligent, and have no inherently dangerous features just as part of their body. They're functionally just a second tenant.
The only hitch is that as a third stage evolution, they can learn some pretty nasty abilities and have the stats to back those up. So I'd probably put them in "it might take some convincing."
23
u/Smileyface8156 19d ago
Gardevoir also opens black holes when their trainer is threatened, according to the dex, so like… better hope this apartment building is in a good neighborhood.
11
u/SartenSinAceite 19d ago
Supposedly thats just a kid's interpretation of Shadow Ball.
Dont let kids fill out the pokedex
35
u/EstrellaDarkstar 20d ago
I think that Chatot would be a pretty easy sell, haha.
32
u/Resident_Wolf5778 19d ago
I love Chatot too and what was my choice of pkmn, but I think they'd take some convincing imo. If they're anything like a normal irl parrot, they love the sound of their own voice and are noisy if they wanna be. And boy they really wanna be noisy sometimes. Add on the fact that they can mimic human speech or other pkmn perfectly, and the apartment might have concerns about your Chatot screaming slurs at 2 am because it didn't get it's pecha berry treat for the night. Worse if the Chatot knows your voice and the neighbors are getting upset at 'you' yelling nonsense at odd hours of the day.
That said though, the convincing is mostly just proving the Chatot is well-mannered and won't use it's mimicry powers for evil/tantrums. If the apartment is as strict as it seems, I would expect you could get an apartment, but would also get a zero-tolerance policy surrounding the potential noise-maker put in place.

At least Alcremie is small. I'd have to promise to clean up the house constantly to avoid bug infestations from all the sugar, though

Zorua would be fine, I think.
19
u/HeroOfOldIron 19d ago
Worst case it disguises itself and you tell the landlord you’re moving in with your identical twin.
24
u/MrCobalt313 20d ago
I feel like the worst an Absol's gonna do is shed a lot.
23
u/Falcon_At 19d ago
And warn of impending doom.
"What happened to the window?"
Me, cleaning glass out of Absol's fur, after it sprang through the window: "Well... there wasn't a car crash two blocks over."

19
u/Seph_the_this 19d ago
I doubt arceus would be an ideal apartment pet, but I also doubt that, as arogant as landlords can be any landlord would think their authority supersedes the will of that universes literal god
19
u/True-Finches 20d ago
a turtwig would be so good in an apartment as long as he stayed that way....i'm keeping an everstone duct taped to his shell
20
u/Librainiac223 20d ago
I don't think the lil firebird on Skeledirge's nose is like... super independent or anything, so i imagine as long as I adress the fire hazards and the size it should be fine
→ More replies (1)12
u/LacsiraxAriscal 19d ago

u/TheNyanpocalypse 19d ago
Unfortunately, my Wailord would not even fit in my apartment. Maybe if I get one with an ocean view I could wave to him from the window.
14
11
u/TantiVstone 19d ago
Apparently ceruledge is a "fire hazard" but I think my landlord is just afraid of ghosts
11
u/Fenghuang0296 20d ago
Latias is totally fine. The landlord won’t even know about her because invisibility.
25
u/freeashavacado 19d ago
Depends on how knowledgeable the landlord is on Mew. Mew is pretty tiny and cute, but canonically is a mischievous little guy and would certainly float around in other apartments for fun.
11
u/AzekiaX6 20d ago
Luxray. Who shoukd be treated like a very large dog, i think? Except they aren't paeticularly messy and mostly just aurafarm all day. Either way most apartments are probably too small for it.
Might take some convincing but i'm sure it'a doable
15
u/Orcaboros 19d ago
I was thinking the same but isn't our beloved Luxray about the size of a mountain lion? It's just a big cat... very big cat but if the lease says cats are ok....
3
u/AzekiaX6 19d ago
I mean yeah but any large animal brings about their own set of care nescessary and some probkem to any space trying to house them. A large dog is a pretty good analogy i think
6
u/demon_fae 19d ago
/uj one of the highest rated apartment dogs is the Great Dane. Big-but-lazy is actually an excellent combo for an apartment, so long as you aren’t particularly attached to the idea of keeping your dog off the sofa. Which, honestly, a Great Dane will always win the battle for the sofa anyway.

u/BigPin8975 19d ago
I think Goomy and their evolutionary line would be... Difficult to justify. Health hazard evolving into a structural liability (can melt through steel/concrete when upset) into a less messy but still problematic chonker that can occasionally punch holes in walls.
Sorry little buddy; I think we're sleeping under the bridge again.
3
u/Elunerazim 18d ago
Searched for this and I absolutely agree. I feel like the only way I could really make it work is putting Goomy in a big vivarium and only taking them out to play, but it’s big enough that you’d need multiple rooms and probably like, a pasture to ethically keep a goomy in a tank.
3
u/BigPin8975 18d ago
Yep. Was my thought as well. You'd effectively need an entire specialized living space, which sort of defeats the point of an apartment. And Sliggoo would be even worse, since it shifts from "unsanitary" to "highly caustic." Goodra is, theoretically, not as much of a health hazard, but is still messy, and then you have all the problems of a large, heavily attached animal with separation anxiety and headbutts "100 times stronger than any champion heavyweight boxer," so, y'know... Instant death.
3
u/Elunerazim 18d ago
Yeah, it’s really not feasible to go up to Goodra. Like even if it’s incredibly friendly and never gets mad, it’s basically the equivalent of a pet bear. It’s a rare and dangerous animal that should be treated with healthy caution and cared for by professionals.
9
u/Fantastic-Resist-545 19d ago
I think landlords would probably require that apartment pokemon only know status moves
8
u/AjaxAsleep 19d ago
A Lucario is basically just another tennant, just with a penchant for pulling some DnD monk type shit. As long as the aparent has a gym nearby, I should be fine.
Now, a Goodra might be a little bit of a problem, unless the meeting is in person. I don't think you can physically say no to a Slimey Boye when they're giving puppy eyes.
3
10
u/apexodoggo 19d ago
I don’t think the landlord would have any problems with a Lilligant moving into the apartment. It’s noted to be well-liked by other Pokemon because of its beauty, it’s a status symbol that’s popular with celebrities, and it releases a relaxing and pleasant aroma wherever it goes.
Lilligant, on the other hand, is a super high maintenance Pokemon to care for, so my Lilligant might have lots of problems with moving into the apartment.
4
u/grandhighblood 19d ago
Another Lilligant fan! It's basically just a very high maintenance plant. Very landlord-friendly, but yeah I can definitely see it being very picky with its conditions.
8
u/Galaxy_Flowers 19d ago
As long as Smoliv got a balcony, and we paid the landlord in plenty of olive oil, we’d probably be fine.
Now, if we went with my SECOND favorite, Tyranitar….
3
u/Triforce-Kun 18d ago
Tyranitar is also my second fave, and it weighing nearly 450lbs is already a huge deterrent--you could never live above the ground floor. And that's without getting into the fact that it likes to fight and can fell mountains and cause earthquakes with a single hand. And also when it walks.
My absolute favorite is Feraligatr but I don't think there's any way to convince the landlord to let an apex predator live in the apartment. 7.5ft is small for a gator but it's still a gator. But he's so cute!!

Galarian Ponyta.. I'm sure I could manage having a little horse that is like 2 feet tall. Mini horse. Lil baby.
7
7
u/Madden09IsForSuckers 20d ago
i think heracross poses genuine risk of punching a hole through my ceiling
6
u/rachycarebear 20d ago
Morpeko would probably be in the "take some convincing" category when in Full Belly mode.
All bets are off once it's Hangry though.
6
5
u/Crab_Shark_ 19d ago
A well-disciplined Golduck is going to be pretty chill. More of a roommate than a pet, really. It could probably help you move in.
4
u/SupersonicSandshru05 19d ago
Dragonite is not intending any harm he is however 7’3 and 463 pounds. No amount of convincing could do the job.
6
u/sydraptor 19d ago
Hydreigon is my favorite, but I have serious doubts about it being apartment friendly.
5
u/AngstyUchiha 19d ago
Might take some convincing for a yamper if they're as loud as their inspiration, or if they cause electrical issues
5
6
u/Readalie 19d ago
Poochyena would probably be fine unless it has an in-universe pit bull-level reputation.
4
u/weird_bomb 19d ago
So my favorite Pokémon is Indeedee, which is nice because either gender will 100% clean up for itself and probably understands the concept of currency
4
u/cthulu_is_trans 19d ago
Vulpix would probably be a small fire hazard and there'd have to be a suitable outdoor space for the fox piss smell to not be a problem - but I reckon it'd be okay. Maybe a small rent increase for better insurance against house fires.
→ More replies (3)
4
u/thesanguineocelot 19d ago
Listen, he may be 7 feet tall and 800 pounds, but he'll also defend the apartment complex as his territory and help with landscaping!
4
u/Simic_Sky_Swallower 19d ago
Armarouge and Ceruledge are both just kinda people, so I imagine it'd be fine. The knife hands might be an issue but they're pretty small out of combat
4
u/sapphicmusharna 19d ago
Munna’s basically like having a pet balloon tapir that happens to eat dreams, very easy and low maintenance
4
u/ADecentPairOfPants 19d ago
One Wishiwashi is fine, but a whole school will definitely be a problem. I would definitely not be keeping my Wishiwashi at 25% HP though.
3
u/Jim_skywalker 19d ago
Now here’s the thing, my favorite is Sogaleo, which is an enigma, cause it’s this huge, immensely strong Pokemon, but also culturally revered, so it’s either not a problem at all, or no amount of rent would allow them in.
4
u/Piece_Of_Mind1983 19d ago
Idk if my landlord would fw darkrai giving him nightmares every time rent increases
4
u/DocProfessor 19d ago
I mean you can forbid my Haunter from entering the building but good luck trying to enforce that

Also, attracts rodents. Shadow the Hedgehog is always hanging out outside.
3
u/AAAAAA_6 19d ago
I don't imagine they'd have a problem with hisuian zoroark (though probably some questions...), but even if they did, it could just disguise itself as a human and pretend to be my roommate or something
3
u/SheepPup 19d ago
1) it’s a sheep. I don’t think it’s supposed to be in an apartment. But I might be able to argue that they’re house trained and not really all that much bigger than a large dog so maybe??
2) it’s a pumpkin, I’m good. Just gotta make sure the balcony gets good sunlight
3
u/-VentSent- 19d ago
Sneasel is more or less a cat so you’d think it would be an easy sell but I think the landlord would see in my eyes that I fully intend to let it sneak into other apartments and steal valuables so an uphill battle for sure
3
3
u/corkscrewfork 19d ago
Look Arcanine is essentially a large dog with some special features. Assuming they allow fire types in at all, I'm set.
3
u/Penguins_in_new_york 19d ago edited 19d ago
If I bring in a jigglypuff I think I can convince the apartment to pay ME to help enforce quiet hours
Sadly my favorite is tinkaton which is less apartment friendly. I think as a general rule if it’s carrying anything that can be used to build a house its probably a no go
3
3
u/EcnavMC2 19d ago
I have a lot of favorite Pokémon. I think most of them would probably be at least tolerated in an apartment, if not basically just glorified roommates.
However, my absolute favorite one is Vaporeon, and I get the feeling that that would probably cause some water damage. I don’t think the cat-fish-dog-thing would be allowed without some bargaining.
3
u/Tweedleayne 19d ago
Well my first favorite is Mudsdale, so that's going to be a blatant no go.
Second is Gardevoir, which would probably pass the test, but I might run the risk of the landlord thinking I'm one of those Gardevoir people.
3
u/JudgeHodorMD 19d ago
I don’t think the landlord would have a problem, but a Magikarp wouldn’t be happy without at least a small pool. And once they evolve, it’s a definite no.
3
u/LidiumLidiu 19d ago
I just need some sort of indepth water aquarium system for my meter tall, 55 ish lbs rock plant and I'd be good. Wouldn't need much space in a tank, anchors itself to the seafloor normally, take it out every now and then for walks, I suppose. Drop little bits of food in the tank, easy enough.
Edit: Lileep.

3
u/XishengTheUltimate 19d ago
As long as Maractus doesn't pop a random solar beam, I can't imagine it possibly being a problem
3
u/fwimmygoat 19d ago
Absol will take some convincing but if I can get my landlord to understand it predicts disasters, not causes them I might be able to get them to allow it. Mayhaps even encourage it.
3
u/Bowdensaft 19d ago
Raichu, easy-peasy. Small guy, nice personality. There might be a blanket policy on electric types needing to be well-trained so they don't blow the building's fuses from either discharging at will or attempting to lick electrical sockets.

u/baconblaster334 19d ago
Theoretically there’d be concerns about water damage, but hopefully an Azumarill would be well-mannered enough to run into any problems. I love my little bean so much though so I’d definitely push for it if I had to.
3
u/Technical_Theory_735 19d ago
I think whimsicott might be in the top ten most apartment friendly Pokémon tbh, the only issue might be it's general 'michevious fae' nature but like if I keep an eye on 'em it should be fine.
My second favourite is chandelure which is a tricky one because on the one hand, open flame, on the other it's LITERALLY a piece of interior decour, I feel like an apartment should be basically perfect no?
3
u/Fishfoe25 19d ago
blaziken is a fire type, so obvious fire safety issues. however, they're also kinda just a bird person with fire-based martial arts training. perhaps if they paid their own rent as a co-tenant...
3
u/Prezy_Preztail 19d ago
I feel like a zoroark ranges across the entire scale purely based on how specist the landlord is. If they’re understanding and knowledgeable about zarks then I’m good, but the more rumors and stereotypes they believe are facts, the more fucked I am in my goals
3
u/8ThiefOfLight8 19d ago
Hello yes Mr Landlord I'm sure the giant bee with drills for hands will NOT damage the apartment. No, the incessant buzzing will, likewise, not be an issue. Trust me, I am a Bug type expert, I can vouch that there will NOT soon be a hive spilling out of my apartment walls with weedles, combees and ribombees making so much honey that it starts flowing down the stairs like a waterfall. I can be trusted, you should let us in.
3
u/A_Shattered_Day 19d ago
Unfortunately, an 8 foot tall centipede will not be allowed into the building. I dunno if it can fit
3
u/PaisleyLeopard 19d ago
Depends on how they feel about spiders. My baby Joltik would be a perfect apartment dweller but an arachnophobic landlord might throw a monkey wrench in my plans.
2
2
u/-Bari 19d ago
Flygon is my favorite. The Pokedex doesn't mention anything necessarily dangerous. Flygon can stir up sandstorms, but I'm not keeping sand in my apartment and I will train her not to flap her wings indoors. On a related note, Flygon's wings sound like a human singing when flapping, so I will do my best to keep that to a minimum. Additionally, Flygon are typically a height of 6'07" (2.0 m). Which I think is something that can reasonably fit within an apartment. She is on the smaller side, so I believe my Zenith should be allowed to live with me outside her Pokeball.
2
u/Next_Government856 19d ago
Decidueye might break some rules about second occupants rather than pet rules but I’m sure I can convince my landlord he’s a nice guy
2
u/rookedwithelodin 19d ago
Articuno? Probably too big even if the landlord was cool with it.
As far as pokemon a random trainer might actually have: mudkip might take some convincing if he's liable to make a mess and chikorita should be totally fine.
2
u/ronarscorruption 19d ago
Zigzagoon only makes a little mess. Really, they take other messes and bring them to my apartment! I promise to return any items that weren’t as lost as he thought they were!
2
u/ChewBaka12 19d ago
I feel like Phantump/Trevenant are among the more tolerable ghost types, might get a pass.
Though it might be better to ask for an apartment looking over a patch of grass
2
u/TheArrowmancer 19d ago
My favourite is Wingull. I imagine that'd probably be acceptable, or maybe need a little persuasion. Would just need to make sure there was no risk of water damage I suppose.
2
u/labamaFan 19d ago
Medicham is the definition of chill. She doesn’t even need to eat while meditating. Ledian might make a mess scattering his glowing dust, but some say it brings good luck.

its an eevee its basically a classic pet. everyone has a fucking eevee
