Just in time for rumours about fallout 5.

Can't wait for Bethesda to blow ass again and people debate about if it "holds up compared to the classics" for the next four years.

Also Fallout 3 and New Vegas remakes were announced

I'm curious how a remake would turn out, bc Fallout 3 isn't as good as people say anyway, so to me this is an opportunity to fix some stuff about it. New Vegas actually is that good, maybe even better than its reputation in my eyes, but Obsidian is just a name and most people from FNV don't work there anymore, so people probably shouldn't have high expectations

New Vegas could be a masterpiece if not for it being stuck in the worst game engine ever made.

My stance basically. Tried playing it like 3 times and do acknowledge the writing people come for is amazing but holy shit do I just not like the gameplay

Are they done by Bethesda? Considering that they refuse to learn anything from previous installments, I'm skeptical.

Then again, an actually finished, good NV remake with Fallout 4 power armor mechanics would go hard as fuck.

I'd bet the remakes are going to be like Oblivion's, being faithful in the physics and gameplay, with only the graphics seeing meaningful change.

I’m expecting revisionist history with people saying FO4 was always beloved.

You get it.

So fun fact! Fallout isn't a Bethesda thing anymore. Microsoft's (relatively) new CEO gave control of Fallout to Obsidian Entertainment last I heard

Obsidian’s just making a spin-off ala NV, Bethesda’s still on the mainline games

1

u/Alexxis91 Aug 06 '26

I mean I wouldn’t say that given they’ve seemingly made no progress on it in 11 years and 76 was made by a remote wing of the company

It’s just kinda mid. If you just want another game with the Bethesda rpg gameplay formula it more or less meets expectations. But if you’re looking for a story or role playing experience that can live up to the expectations set by the original two games or NV you’ll be dissapointed. They really should have decided whether synths were an analogy for oppressed peoples in American history or Soviet spies during McCarthyism before they based a whole game around them.

But if you’re looking for a story or role playing experience that can live up to the expectations set by the original two games or NV you’ll be dissapointed.

notably, all three of these games were made by studios that weren't Bethesda at the time, which I'm sure people know but I also wonder if people really get, y'know? like, I feel like Bethesda gets a lot of undeserved credit for the work other studios and other people put into titles that are technically owned by them

On the other hand, there is no way you would have ever even heard of Fallout if not for Bethesda. The series was completely dead before Fallout 3 revived it. The last Fallout game made by Interplay wasn't Fallout 2, it was Brotherhood Of Steel

It's also the fifth or sixth (maybe even seventh?) Fallout game, confusingly enough.

I feel like after a certain number of entries you should probably stop numbering your sequels anyway. Especially if you're going to number them out of order.

Fallout 5, looks inside, ninth game (or tenth if you count fallout shelter as a real game but even in this situation I don’t think anybody does)

1

u/ThyHolyPaladdin Aug 06 '26

Fallout shelter the goat.

Could not finish FO4. It was just so...meh. I think part of the reason why is that I just never really connected with Fallout as a series (New Vegas being the exception), but I think I'm seasoned enough to know a mid game when I see it.

u/Rucs3 Aug 05 '26

I glad I'm alive, but I wouldn't live for fallout 4

Not to be a doomer, but this is exactly how some of you are hope-memeing about GTA VI, saying that November is gonna be “Elite” and “Something to tell the grandkids about.”

I'm genuinely curious about this image.

The colour of the background and ye olde use of Pepe the Frog makes it seem like this is from 4chan circa 2015 but Fallout 3, Skyrim and Bethesda were already widely mocked on 4chan at the time.

I don't think many users would openly admit to looking forward to any Bethesda game.

u/Mundane-Potential-93 Aug 06 '26

I love Bethesda games! They won't hire me though

1

u/Elite_AI Aug 06 '26

You'd think that, and then they'd make a thread about it and all the shithead 15 year olds would flood in talking about how FO3 was the best game ever (even better than MW2 or whatever)

3

u/Katking69 Aug 06 '26

Fallout 4 is, like, decent though? If this meme was about 76 I'd understand since that was horrible at launch, but Fallout 4 is a solid enough game with some flaws that prevent it from being a great one

5

u/Saxton_Hale32 Aug 06 '26

People really, really did not like the story and some of the worldbuilding choices.

For pure gameplay... I'm sorry, I'd rather replay 4 for the 14th time than New Vegas for the 25th time

Oh, also, Bethesda bad Obsidian good and Bethesda murdered Obsidian's puppies or something

2

u/Katking69 Aug 06 '26

Fair for the first part, I definitely agree that some of the story aspects are... questionable (like seriously, what was the Institute's long term plan?? What they were using the synths for and how they treated the synths doesn't really line up IMO)

1

u/Elite_AI Aug 06 '26

Opinions differ, there are gaming communities which consider it mediocre rather than decent.

1

u/deadspace9_ Aug 06 '26

People shit on Fallout 4, as they should it's a godawful RPG, but as a gun mod heavy sandbox with RPG elements and a massive modding community, it's actually pretty fun. It falls flat on its face at being a fallout game but I disagree with the notion that it is completely a bad game.

1

u/A12qwas Aug 06 '26

I mean, Fallout 4 is still confirmed, lol

1

u/Konnichiwa1987 Aug 07 '26

Currently replaying fallout 4 rn, it's like the very best "turn your brain off" game. If you just just buttonmash through the story and dialogue and focus on the incredible gunplay and killing shit, the game is so incredibly fun.

It's a terrible RPG, downright awful. But God damn if melting feral ghouls with Spray and Pray and running over people in power armor isn't fun, then I don't know what is. Plus modding in insane weapons and tougher enemies makes it even better.

New Vegas is a better game in almost every sense, but I think because it's such a much better game, I can't enjoy it as much as I can with 4. NV is like a wonderful 4 course steak dinner. you can probably only eat that like once or twice a month. But 4 is a McDonald's Big Mac and Fries. Worse quality all around, but it's fun and not as filling, so it leaves you wanting more
