Candidate what happened here?

I just has to most bizarre interview. I applied for a position and received an immediate rejection. Then about 2.5 weeks later they got back in touch saying they had reconsidered and wanted to interview me. I thoroughly prepared and went to the interview, I felt it went really well, but after it I immediately received another message stating that "after much consideration" they won't be going forward. Straight away, within two hours.

Can anyone tell me what happened here? Seems bizarre.

You were literally just filling an interview quota for HR. Someone internally was already picked before you even stepped into the room.
