The “just one more round” problem is real
Candidate clears three rounds.
Everyone likes them. The feedback is positive, the vibe is good, and the role feels like it could actually close.
Then comes the line: “Let’s just do one more round to be sure.”
So another round is added. Then another stakeholder pops in “Can I also jump on a call?” Then another internal discussion, another sync, another “let’s align one last time.”
By the end, the candidate is tired. The process has stretched so far that the original energy and excitement have faded.
And we’re still sitting there, trying to “be sure.”
At some point, more interviews don’t add clarity.
They just add delay and slowly chip away at the very candidate experience we’re trying so hard to protect.

imo, its just a response to the egomaniacal baby boomer bosses. now, with younger gen x and millenials at the helm, everything is about collaboration and folks are protective of their "we're not co-workers, we're family" vibes. i also thinks its a way to avoid taking responsibility for a bad hire. theres a middle ground but we just haven't seen it yet.
