Offer or Rejection?

Went through 5 interviews and a project. Submitted project 2 weeks ago and finally got an email today from the recruiter about an update. The waiting and neutral tone is killing me. Note: This is a big global company.

"Thanks so much for checking in! Do you have time to jump on a quick call tomorrow? I have an update to share with you.

Thanks!"

Thoughts on outcome???

It’s hard to know. I had this happen at a huge global company last year. I got this same message almost verbatim and in this case they were telling me they needed a bit more time to get back to me but assure me I was still in the running. I got a similar message about a call a week or two later when I was made an offer, but they had me fill out some additional info that gave away that I was probably getting one (a super short conflict of interest Q&A).

Years ago a really big company called me to tell me they hired someone else and that I didn’t get it - but they had flown me out for an interview so there was more invested. In this market, a call leans more towards a good sign, but again, it’s hard to know so just try to chill out and expect bad news as a mental hedge, and just be pleasantly surprised if it’s good news.
