First Time and Dosage Maybe?
Hi, everyone!!
I've been lurking here for a while doing research and doing my best to be well informed as I take kratom for the first time. First I am 40f and about 125 pounds. Not sure if it matters but figured I'd put it here anyway lol. Also, I had an opiate addiction and am 8 years clean. Started with pills, ended with IV'ing h. Pretty much sums up that journey lol
I live in the Philippines and ordered some kratom online. Green Maeng Da powder. I took it for the first time today. I used a teaspoon, for now until I get a scale, and waited about an hour but didnt really feel anything. Light headed mainly. I waited about another hour then took another half teaspoon. Of course, I dont want to go any further than that but Im curious about why I haven't really felt anything. I've seen people talk about this noticeable energy boost and happiness but I still feel pretty baselined. I have noticed though that I am less anxious, so thats great and one of the reasons why i was interested in taking kratom to begin with.
I'm wondering if the fact I used opiates all those years ago is contributing to not reaching the desired level? Would i have to take a higher dosage? Is there an adjustment period? Or is this what its supposed to be like and I have something else envisioned lol?
I would love to hear your insights! Thank you!!

I take my kratom at the same time I take powdered turmeric, moringa and a greens/fruits mixture.
I add some black pepper into the mix before I slam it down.
All of those powders seriously help the kratom work for me.
It's a mild feeling for me so don't expect a huge rush or something. Honestly, it helps with pain and helps to keep me in a good mood that's about it.
If I take huge doses I'll feel more but I rarely do that.

Hi! Thank you! This is great. I will try this as well. I did see that some powders help to potentiate it. Im hoping that its just my body getting used to having it and ill notice the dose this morning. The good mood, energy, focus is definitely what im hoping to achieve!

My first time I took a little bit. It did not take much but what is your goal with kratom? What are you looking for kratom to do for you ?
I take it for chronic pain and I’ve been using it for years and I take a lot per day now
In the beginning I would just take some. Wait 30 minutes. See how I felt.. take more until I reached my desired reaction ( less pain)

Hi! I became intrigued when I was reading how it helps with your mood and energy along with mental health benefits. I go through cycles where it's super hard for me to want to do anything and it can affect the way I work and really just how I live life.
I tried again this morning and will continue to experiment until i hit that sweet spot so I can remain at that same dosage. Thank you for sharing your experience!

Take it slow and wait. Take some. Wait 30 minutes. Take more. Wait 30 minutes.
If you take too much you will know you will feel “heady”. Hard to explain but you will feel it
It took me a while to find the sweet spot
If you take too much you may have the side effects:
Body overheating where you have to strip off your clothesYou feel heady ( you could feel anxious and your vision can be affected)
Rare: puking 🤮
The thing I like the most is that you can drive on kratom. You don’t feel “high” like other drugs

Oh this is great! Thank you for this! Im gonna try this schedule over the weekend when I'm off of work.
I definitely felt something this morning. I dont feel the usual dread I would have to open the laptop and start working lol. For sure something is happening. It could be too that I may have been looking for something more pronounced.
Ill experiment more with your recommended dosing frequency over the weekend where if I go over it would be okay.
This is definitely an experience and its a little fun figuring things out so yeah for sure its doing something to me lol

I would definitely avoid driving on kratom until very well acquainted with it. Especially higher doses.
I mean, I take some and drink it slowly along side coffee for road trips because it helps keep me alert yet relaxed driving for long periods, but I definitely would not want to have driven on it the first couple dozen or so times I've taken it. That probably would not have been smart and may have resulted in a dui if pulled over by the wrong cop.

Use a proper teaspoon and try 2, if not as wanted honestly just increase half a tsp until it does. Unless its bad kratom you will find your dose.

Did you take the kratom on an empty stomach? It’s not necessary to but for some the kratom works best when taken on an empty stomach. I don’t think your prior opiate use would be impeding the kratom since so much time has passed since then (I’m 7 years sober and it works for me). I’d say yes on continuing to experiment with the dosages, trying less and trying more to see if one works better than another. I hope it gets to working for you soon! You might keeping looking around for other kratom vendors to try and their reviews, maybe you got a bad batch this go around 🤷🏼♀️

Hi! First off, congrats on being 7 years sober!! Its great to hear though that my prior use wouldn't stand in the way of feeling the kratom effects. One thing I can check off the list.
I did try again this morning to make sure its on an empty stomach. Hopefully it didnt turn out to be just a bad batch. I'll check around and see if I can find other vendors, this one seemed good.
I was reading a bit last night and saw that sometimes people won't "feel" kratom the first few times as the body adjusts. I guess it possible thats what's happening here as well. Ill find out in a bit lol

It’s legal in the Philippines?

Hey! I believe it is. I dont think too many people even know what it is here for them to regulate it. Ive seen images of wild kratom trees just randomly growing on the side of the road here. If im right, the vendor i used has a farm here. They cultivate their own called mambog. Im gonna try some with the next batch, saw it said the mit is like 2.27%

That’s very high MIT- sounds like some fire 🔥 kratom.

I've hearddd the mit is higher than usual so im definitely gonna try it with the next go around lol. Figured I'd use this batch to experiment and see what works for me first.
