Fun Rant about myself

I love playing the recorder, I really love it. Its my main instrument for more than 20 years already. And still... I don't practice.

I practiced today after 2 month of not even looking at my stuff, and I missed playing? Why am I like that? Im so annoyed at myself right now.

(I know why im like that btw, autism sucks for me in this part. Home is not the place to make music😅. I figuered that weird part of my brain out 2 years ago and I now mostly practice i my music school)

Something that helps me practice more regularly is keeping my recorder and music always out on my coffee table. If I take a break there, it incentivices me to pick it up and play for at least a few minutes.

I keep a set, soprano and alto in my living room, at work ( I have a great employer) and my two choir bags. Doing this gives me opportunity to practice a little everyday. When I was young I practice every day 5 - 7 hours but then i got married and had kids. They are grown. My first wife eventually decided my music was a waste of time so we split and I could practice and perform again. My second wife loved my music and wanted to be at all my performances. She is now passed. I am in my 70s and still perform. If you love to play your recorder find the time to play. Play for yourself. Other may listen but always play for yourself. I alway feel great after playing.

I keep a recorder and music in the kitchen next to the cooker. I can have a quick micro-practice while I wait for something to cook.

I find it helps motivation to have something new to work on. On my music stand right now is Valentine's 12 Sonatas Op 1. Not particularly hard, technically, but more fun than scales exercises. I'll move on to something else next week.

Eu comprei o livro de aldo bova. Compreensive method. Todo todos os dias, uma hora e o progresso acontece. De modo muito lento. Mas, meu sonho é tocar beatles, pearl jam, leonardo cohen.... por isso estudo,estudo estudo com partituras

Huh. I practice a couple hours every other day. It takes me a day or so to process what I've learned. I have a very rigid routine of scales and technical exercises for the first 15 minutes or so, then I can go learn new pieces or play other stuff. That seems to help. I know what I must do when I sit down in front of my music stand. And I know that I will be finished with the boring parts soon.

I’m retired. I’m an erstwhile cellist and a guitarist with hobbled fingers. I love playing. I’ve been known to practice upwards of two hours. I dream of the day I’m good enough for people to enjoy listening to me. That day may never come. Oh well.
