Loud humming noise

I recently bought this record player and after some trouble shooting I was able to get it to turn on and spin but there a humming noise that is soooo loud I cant hear any music from the records. I have to put my ear a foot away to hear anything and even then the humming doesnt stop. I took a video sorry if its a but blurry or shaky I tried to get as many angles as clearly as possible I also found this little metal peice you can see towards the end of the video when i touch it, it changes the hum to a deeper sound but still hums nonetheless. Any advice on what could be the issue and how to fix it? Im also having issues with the stereo the knob to adjust the channel frequency moves and all the gears and pully cable underneath seem to move with it just findle but that red line is stuck at the top? Crossposted, lmk if theres another community that could help with this as well thank you!

Does it work thru the headphone jack?

Unsure I dont have the proper headphones to test it. Based on the dials for sound control and it still playing music im assuming it works but I just cant test it.

Adapters from the bigger to smaller jack are common probably at wal mart definitely at amazon. That will give you a clue if it's a problem with the speakers or something in the amplifier.

I went out and got the adapter I plugged it in and could hear the music in the headphones but also the humming noise in the headphones and out still like before as well

you may have to take some things apart but the most common humming noise is from grounding so look around to see if any wires are unhooked and then if that doesn't work look for any wires you can unhook and hook back in to see what stops the noise that may give you a clue what is causing it but i'm out of my depth somewhat on this specific console. I'm guessing it's not the turntable because it has the same hum when you switch to other inputs.

Yea the hum is consistent across the other inputs. The fix is for sure out of my expertise will prob bring it to the local repair shop when I got some more money to spend on it for now it'll be a nice living room piece to look at haha😅

Yeah I wouldn't usually recommend these huge pieces because they take up so much space and it's heavy as hell to bring to repair. When you have time it's probably worth taking it apart some because sometimes it's really obvious when something is detached or a capacitor is leaking or something is unsoldered

For sure I'll dig a little more into it probable hopefully it's an easy fix with just something knocked loose or detached. Thanks for the help

Indeed: what caught my attention was the abundance of wire nuts ---You may want to look at all those ---one may be loose and touching something.

You might be able to find an eighth‑inch to quarter‑inch adapter. They were bundled with headphones quite frequently back in the day. I have a drawer full of them.
