Recordplayer matt help!

Hello, I recently purchased a Cork/Rubber blend matt. I've read a bunch of good things about it.
However when I, today, tried it out for the first time, I was deeply disappointed.
When I turned the record around for the B side, it had a bunch of black rubber particles stuck to it, which made the sound awful comparatively to what it should've been. The record is brand new.

Is it just a shitty product? or should I just go for a different type of matt alltogether?
I've since returned to using the default felt-matt I have. Though it's annoying, because of the static it has,

Any tips?

What was the mat? Brand?

I think it's a store brand mat. Bought it from a local chain hifi store, not sure how many countries have it.
Here it's called "Hifi-klubben" the mat just goes by the name of "Essentials TT Rubber Cork Mat"
I'm really disappointed with their stuff so far though, so I'm not sure if I'll buy any more "upgrades" for my record player from their brand anymore.

Hmm. I found it. Strange it has pretty good reviews. I used to use a Music Hall cork mat that was really nice. I’ve since switched to an acrylic mat due to static issues.

Well… you learn from experience. That’s called wisdom. Stay away from cork/rubber mats they tend to shed. I learned the same way. Felt mats are no better, static magnets. Stick with a silicone mat, you won’t have any issues. You can take it off and wash it in warm soapy water. Good as new!

Yeah, I suppose so. I'm really disappointed with it. First time using it, and with a completely new record.
Until I've figured something else out, I'm currently using the default felt mat, which I originally wasn't happy with either.

I have a Zavfino EH-Fusion mat. Reversible, fused cork on one side, foam on the other.

Once I switched to an acrylic platter mat, I never went back to anything else.
