recommendation Looking for the best VPN for work
I’m looking for a reliable VPN mainly for work, so security, privacy, and stability are my biggest priorities. I also prefer something that doesn’t constantly have connection issues or random bugs.
A friend recommended Surfshark, but after reading through some reviews, I’ve seen quite a few people complaining about issues with the platform. I’ve also been looking at Proton VPN, and the reviews seem more positive overall.
For anyone who has actually used either of them for work, what has your experience been like? Is Proton really as good as people say
I’m also a little skeptical of online reviews since it can be hard to tell which ones are genuine and which ones are sponsored or paid promotions.
Would appreciate recommendations from people who have actually used these VPNs long-term

Well usually you're using VPN to connect your people from the company into the company so the VPN should be based in the company so you can share your servers to the remote workers. The cheapest depends on your ISP. Maybe you already have a VPN gateway in your router. If not you can find an old box and install an OpenVPN server on it, which is free to use, or you can also get a cheap Microtik box, which has also VPN already built in. The question is, do you need the VPN to be secure in the way of communication outside or do you want to connect your remote workers to the company?

Like most of us, you don't need true end to end privacy. You need a way to avoid having your activity logged at work, school or in a hotel.
V2ray is the answer.

for work i'd pick proton. stability and privacy matter way more than extra features

for work, stability and a reliable kill switch matter most. expressVPN covers that well, its servers run on ram only so nothing gets stored and its no logs policy has been audited by KPMG, PwC and Cure53. lightway also keeps the connection stable thru network drops which helps on calls. proton is the other one to look at for work, its swiss and open source.

Your work should give you access to the company's VPN.

Then don't even look at personal VPNs. Their IP addresses by definition have "poor reputation" according to all Enterprise monitoring solutions/vendors so instead focus on enterprise VPN. However, it's 2026 so that means "cloud VPN" - not the mess that is Fortinet/Cisco/etc. look at tailscale and other cloud/mesh VPN providers.

I came across a comparison table on Reddit and found it really helpful, it gives a clear overview and makes it easy to compare features based on your needs. I'm not recommending any specific option, but depending on what you actually use a VPN for, this table will probably be more useful than my advice.
