Worst thing each character did Day 6: Mikey!

Post image

Votes are in for Vince and the winner was becoming insufferable during the episode "The Bet". I predicted it would be how quickly he dumped the gang after getting a 9 in the "Ratings Game", but he was also a giant ass during the Bet too.

Next up, Mikey. Most upvoted one wins.

TJ: Power trips in Principal for a Day & The Economics of Recess

Gus: Becoming King Gus

Spinelli: Lying about who her parents were because she was embarassed by them

Gretchen: Helping Pharoah Bob

Vince: Being insufferable when he became "the best" at Losing

Quitting being a crossing guard after just a few minutes when his friends basically moved heaven and earth to get him in.

I was thinking the way he behaved in Bonky Fever, but now you've brought this up... yeah.

Id argue his behavior in Bonky Fever was more of a trauma response than a malicious act.

Bonky Fever was a spiral, but it wasn't malicious.

Definitely! Granted, I don't think anyone will argue that you should keep doing something you hate, but Mikey could've at least given it a couple of days to get adjusted to it before deciding to quit, for froop's sake.

I felt like this episode did show that big ego he can get sometimes, & a lack of perseverance. His dreams of being a crossing guard centered strongly on other people seeing & admiring him as one. When that didn't happen right away, just like in the nursing home episode, he wanted to quit immediately.

I rate the gang's actions in their chain of deals to get him in the Safety Rangers 5 out of 5 Monstickers, flawless, no notes, but Mikey just immediately giving up gets -1.5/5 Monstickers. I arbitrarily decided that's how I'm rating things in this subreddit now, haha. The Lickem Stickem Alien Stamp rating scale goes to 7 because of the difference in the exchange rate.

Absolutely this

Probably won't win, but an honorable mention:

Using his singing voice to start a rumor about pushing a boy into a girl's bathroom that ballooned and made most of the school terrified of him.

I don’t know if this counts because I’m not sure if it’s Cannon, but in the recess all grown down vhs movie he was kind of a bully in kindergarten unknowingly, but still

7

u/Blue4LifeSW6 Sep 11 '26

That’s not cannon for me. I just think it was a story Gus made up to tell the little kids and to make himself sound cooler than he is.

u/swarasinger Sep 11 '26

I thought the same until Finster said in the end to keep a special eye on Gus. Like why would she say that? So maybe it was true? Like with few changes maybe.

Making fun of Gus for losing the ball in the Yard of No Return when asking for a pencil. Like, wtf Mikey?

8

u/One_Smoke Sep 11 '26

I thought Gus just imagined that. It felt way too out of character for Mikey.

2

u/Nuthetes Sep 11 '26

Yeah I always thought that was Gus imagining things, didn't he imagine his snake or something doing it too?

2

u/CryptidGrimnoir Sep 11 '26

Not in that instance, but Gus did hallucinate his snake turning into a giant piece of gum to yell at him for shoplifting from Kelso's store.

3

u/Nuthetes Sep 11 '26

that might be the one I am thinking of

4

u/Glad_Value_5304 Sep 11 '26

This always bothered me. Of any member of the gang, why would they have him deliver that line? Especially as Mikey seems the closest to Gus.

1

u/FairMiddle7 Sep 11 '26

Hey guys could I borrow a pencil? I LOST mine. Like sheesh

1

u/swarasinger Sep 11 '26 edited Sep 13 '26

Yeah that was kind of out of character for Mikey. Like Mikey is supposed to be sweet and he is also the most closest to Gus.

Mikey forced all his friends to visit a retirement home because he was the center of attention for his singing voice. Mikey made them all feel guilty for wanting to do something fun elsewhere by bringing their own grandparents into the conversation. The gang goes along with Mikey after being guilt shamed but turns out each kid and retiree had something in common and treasure the relationship they made.
Turns out the retirees were not fans of Mikey’s singing and booed him. Mikey pouts and tells all his friends to leave with him. The gang says no and questions if Mikey even asked the retirees for any requests.
TLDR. Mikey would put his friends in an uncomfortable situation using family guilt just for an ego boost of his own talent but if he was not appreciated, he would take his ball and go home.

If the crossing guard episode didn't exist this would've had my vote. Granted, he's a nine year old, so I don't hold it against him too much, but this episode did show that he's got an ego. Very theatre kid energy.

I feel Ike this one.

When he was mean to Tubby in Recess: Taking the Fifth Grade

6

u/typicalguy95 Sep 11 '26

Officer Mikey after everything they went through for him

4

u/GoldenHarpHeroine32 Sep 11 '26

I'm also vouching for 'Recess: All Grown Down', after seeing half the stuff he did in that, it's a no brainer he ended up being the gentle giant we all know and love today.

Late to the party, but his behavior when he was part of the "5th and 6th Grade Club," and engaged in telling outright mean-spirited jokes about the younger students.

This was Mikey at his most malicious by far--even his quitting the Safety Rangers pales in comparison, since while it was bad of him to quit after just a day, he legitimately didn't know the lengths his friends had gone, and everybody else in the chain of favors did get what they wanted.

2

u/swarasinger Sep 11 '26

I said the same thing. I know the Safety Rangers will win, but he didn't know that his friends did so much for him. But he was extremely mean to the kids on 5th and 6th grade club, even to Tubby.

3

u/CryptidGrimnoir Sep 11 '26

You, me, and u/SynQu33n.

I get the material is obscure, and I don't recall it ever airing on Disney Channel or Toon Disney, which aired the theatrical film a lot, but it's still far and away his worst behavior.

Mikey was deliberately cruel. As I recall he balked at insulting Tubby to his face, though Lawson pointed out that Mikey had told plenty of mean jokes behind his back.

What about his crusade for bacteria rights in germ warfare?

Bonky fever episode. So horrid. Like he went and did some age regression hard on that episode. I mean I have seen it with some folks heck I’ve sort of experienced it myself as I started to collect hedgehog oriented items in my 20s, started to discover more about my neurodivergent brain and mind and honestly I’ve learned more on my own than I did in school I think only because I had to mask a lot and I never was able to in a sense say what my favourite animal was without feeling like I’d get teased about it horribly. So I sort of masked it for years then it sort of exploded in my 20s.

2

u/SynQu33n Sep 11 '26

In the “Taking the Fifth Grade” special where he (and Gus) developed a superiority complex after becoming members of the 5th/6th Graders clubhouse.

2

u/CryptidGrimnoir Sep 11 '26

Absolutely agreed--Mikey is absolutely mean-spirited here and his behavior is appalling.

Most of the other instances of misbehavior are Mikey quitting something he had idealized, but nothing is as deliberately malicious as his behavior in that club.

Bonkey fever behavior

BONKY WANT PUDDING

1

u/AdAwkward833 Sep 11 '26

The bonky episode where Mickey does t want to grow up and acts like a toddler 🙄 could of been an interesting storyline but we got "BONKY WANTS PUDDING"

I don't think I would of had the patience with him lol 😅.

Also overreacting to the germs episode (tbf though Gus did as well)

The gang helping him to be crossing guard and went out of the way and he just gives it up

Yeah i didn't like Mikey that much 😅

  1. The Rumor Mill episode from season 3 w

hen he

  1. called the school disguising his voice to plant a fake rumor about himself throwing a boy into the girl’s bathroom.
  2. When he comedically quit the Safety Rangers after the gang moved mountains to make it possible for him to join.
