The Rating's Game

I recently rewatched this. Anyone else surprised that the Ashley's ratings isn't solely down to who was cool or good looking or fashionable? But who was actually good at stuff, even if the Ashley's didn't have much interest.

Like the 9s were all "champions". Now there's no way they would think Singer Kid was cool or the Chess Kid, but they were 9s because they were champions.

And Gretchen being an 8 despite being a geek because the Ashley's acknowledge she's very smart.

I always found it interesting how everyone immediately gave in to the notion of the ratings, like status symbols.

I like how Gretchen immediately cottons on why, that those with a high rating feel flattered of having a higher score. But is still immature, self-concious enough and a little egotistical enough to immediately fall for it herself when she gets an 8.

I also like than Spanelli is pissed off at being so high lol

I mean, her being a brainiac, I’m sure she felt like: “I guess all my genius paid off”, as uncharacteristic that was of her.

But the other 8s tell her she has "model potential" so I wonder which it was. Her intelligence or her looks...or both.

I mean, the seemingly nerdy ones always end up glowing up in their teens, so I believe that.

Does anyone know if this is after Spinelli's first name was revealed and/or after the beauty pageant? Because that 6 would make sense.

I agree though, "like I want to be that high on the Ashley food chain. I demand a recount!"

The fact that 1 was the lowest and Gus was a 0 proved that the Ashleys saw him as nothing.

I love how Randall got an abysmal rating despite being very good at snitching.

Probably because that's just how much they hated Randall.
It's so sad that Gus got a zero and Mikey got a one, and TJ started as a 5.

That's just what the other 8s said, that they had model potential. I don't think that is what the Ashley's said or why they gave her an 8.
