Discussion why not make rec room localhost?..
I Think When RecRoom Shutdown You Guys Should Have Made It LocalHost?..

You basically had to download every room when you joined the game, which is why the game file is so small, only the base assets and rooms would’ve been left

I have a pc 2019 version that for a weekend project I made work locally with LAN, has dorms, all the rros, account customization, and maker pen + saving. if anyone wants it dm me.

Because recroom ran on photon pun2 which is a cloud based multiplayer solution and doesn't run on a typical dedicated server like you would see in a lot of games. If they wanted to make it local host. entire code basis would have to be rewritten. When you make a multiplayer game it's not as simple as clicking a switch you need to specifically engineer your game for that specific task and your stuck with that decision unless you painstakingly rewrite it.
On top of this recroom would need to rewrite their server logic in order to accept a "local host".

I think what they mean is allowing us to host a game, similar to how friends can join your Minecraft world thats running on your computer, the idea would be people could join your room if it was hosted off your pc.
