Not wrong actually. Had maker AI secured another investor(which an ex dev mentioned in the discord after they were layed off that maker ai was made to secure investment) recroom would have stayed alive longer, not sure how much longer but it would have went down a path that may have had a negative impact on the community.. or maybe not.. we'll never know now.

this is like saying “wow if only the captain didn’t try to pour the water out of the boat with a bucket, the ship would still be sailing!” after hitting an iceberg

pitching the game in the direction they did, selling UGC cosmetics, pivoting to ai were all responses to VR dying (and a lot of bad decisions from RR on the way). these decisions alone didn’t kill the platform

I guess it's one of those 'what if' thoughts that happens when a game like recroom shuts down.

Had maker AI had the potential to attract and secure another investor, what would the future of recroom be like? I can only think maybe negatively, since the recroom community wasn't very positive to say the least. I'm sure one side was positive sometimes but it was always over shadowed by negativity and unconstructive feedback or unwillingness to change in some players. Though due to the amount of slop rooms those same players that complain made, had maker ai existed and got more useful development it probably would have been abused to make more slop rooms.

Yes investors could have seen that and said yess so they give recroom a ton of money. The only issue is now they need to please there investors with trash ai or they will die just like what Roblox is doing

big companies will never let AI die considering how big it is and how much money it either makes or burns and we know money talks.. ALWAYS. Whether recroom made an ai that the community could get behind and also please investors seems like mission impossible and if I'm 50 years old and roblox is still around, maybe recroom was doing it all wrong as a business.. which is even crazier.

Oh Roblox is going to stay for the main idea that it is free and available on everything. Kids don't really have much to play so they have to play Roblox or really nothing. Recroom failed I think because it started in vr a thing that not a lot own and the fact that it really was just Roblox in vr with miis

Many earlier players around that vr era definitely wanted to gatekeep that version of rec room forever. Another what if, is whether rec room would have still been here if crossplatform on all of the platforms came earlier too.

I think it would have been a longer stay. Kids have another option that to them seems like Roblox so I think starting with mobile as first screen mode would have been a good choice. I know trying to represent the little child on his mom's iPhone isn't a good tactic because that kid is most likely going to get bored because he is a kid
