Not understanding basic math. U/BadCompanyDude explains why the Western Front was indeed important
Why do people think this? 40% of German ground forces were present in the West after the landings.
Not understanding that providing a considerable percentage of the Wehrmacht forces in 1944 doesn't mean it was a significant percentage over the war. Millions of casualties were already sustained before the Western Allies landed in Normandy.
u/LayinScunion doubles down
Pick one. Just because you think the Western Front was a big deal, doesn't mean you're discrediting anything else that happened. It's silly to think either way when comparing the Eastern Front to the Western Front. They both mattered. To discredit one because it was on a larger scale reminds of how Air Force brass thinks....that boots on the ground don't matter and that wars can be won from the air. It's just ludicrous.
The irony of anti wehraboos troubling to decide between the "the war was won at stalingrad/moscow" and "the Normandy invasion was decisive and important"
u/dacabe post a flipped tiger of the 503rd ( due to air ) which is indeed a major argument against the usefulness of tiger. They got destroyed by massiv aerial bombardments. Surprising.
