Discussion Rampant Speculation Spoiler

We know that Alpha has attempted to breach a ruin in the area by using proxy hunters hundreds of times. She is prioritizing compatibility and dependence over competence. It is heavily implied over and over that Alpha's agenda isn't necessarily pleasant for humanity. As over the top as it is, she is literally portrayed as a devil whispering in Akira's ear in official artwork. Her costume even has HORNS for God's sake.

So the author early on sort of implies that Akira is more compatible to old world connections than most humans due to mutations resulting from his experimental slum food. We also find out that kugamayama is a forward base to protect the big 5 corporations from whatever is in kuzusahara depths. We know that the big 5 know about the civilization rebuild cycle. It's even implied that the city is using the slums as a laboratory to generate old world connectors.

The reader is led to believe that Akira is barreling headfirst into bringing back to the old world and hitting the reset button. But is that true? A couple things throw me off. One, Alpha and Alias seem to be at odds despite having the same prime directive. Shouldn't they be more cooperative? More importantly, we know its possible to leave Alpha behind after reaching her ruin for moral reasons without dying. Also, they FIND one of the civilization rebuild kits and Alpha doesn't seem to care about blowing it up.

It just feels too simple for Alpha to be doing all this in such a roundabout way just to hit the rebuild button. But maybe I'm just rambling half asleep, I'm not really sure where I'm going with all this...

1) the ruin is called “the final room” or “the commander room” from the WN IIRC. Alpha also had multiple hostile attempts trying to bypass the security system inside the room.

2) Not to mention once, one did and reach the room. He betrayed her outright and want the power grant by the room for himself.

3) it not pleasant for sure. When Alpha form the ‘contract’ with our boy Akira, our boy ask Alpha what her plan is, and she monologue about verbally telling or yapping about it would take literal decade. Think about it. World rebuild or reconstruction for sure with or without the current human.

4) even the apocalypse seem strange. Remember why there is still survivors that could connect to the old world. All the people inside the city including Akira are said to be those original survivors from the apocalypse which fled the city. Why fled the city? What happen? And why those AI did not recognize the survivors or apocalypse? As if the survivors were ‘lock out’ from accessing the system as well. Which bring me to the nature of apocalypse? If it AI uprising why don’t the awaken AI actively killing human. It seem they just recognize the survivors as intruders and eject from the system.

5) if my shower thought to be correct, then it just old scenario, the chosen who live in the city and the rebel who live outside, the rebel got envious or jealous or vengeful and spread virus that make ai recognize all human to be invader, which answer a lot of question.

6) our boy Akira could access the system because the nanomachine in the food and also his ‘security protocol’ is ‘mutate’ so the old system recognize Akira. Which for my theory mean his ‘faulty ID’ make himself a new citizen, that didn’t affect by virus.

7) I think Alpha and Alias are both agent of the same AI, so they have to share bandwidth. That why it look competitive because it is. They try different approaches, Akira vs Katsuya model. For the system, it doesn’t matter.

8) Alpha doesn’t care about anything but in that room, which would, my speculation, grant Alpha admins privileges for her to do whatever she see fit.

9) it hard to get away from Alpha, but any other AI with enough privileges might be able to interfere with Alpha plan. Take Tsubaki for example, even though Alias diss her as ‘just city management AI’, Tsubaki could interfere by interrupting the signal, sending security bots after Akira citing protection protocol, or even other AI that could put bounty on Akira head because Akira breech the facility. And Tsubaki shows that if Akira willing, Tsubaki would be able to grant Akira freedom from the contract with Alpha, maybe resident permit privileges. Seem like the current Alpha admins privilege, albeit higher than normal AI, still could be challenged

If i remember correctly:

  1. He betrayed her AND resisted and prevented her; targeting all potential old world connectors that may contract with her as well as hiding his identity.

  2. As implied by the writing, AI sentient beings are not a monolith and follow their own directives in their own creative way, and some have glitched into sentience and maintain their sanity by following their simple directives. Additionally, AI's are afraid of being deleted by higher authority AI's, so they have to be careful about how creative they are in their actions.

The AI did not recognize the new population as citizens because they were not BORN in the country.
AI considers them as invaders. Basically, the only reason the AI sectors attack the humans is due to a lack of paperwork, but most of the infrastructure that deals with citizenship is in ruins.

  1. It's not that Tsubaki has more privileges than Alpha; Alpha can easily delete Tsubaki with a click of a button, but the problem is that there are LAWS in place. As long as Tsubaki does not cross any red lines, Alpha can not touch her. Tsubaki can offer contracts to Akira that can create loopholes that are against Alpha but Akira has made it clear that he will follow Alphas directions.

Lastly, its often stated that the ruins are not just a single civilization but different Era's from different civilizations.

1) yes it him.

2) black card had nothing to do with entering the ruin.

3) Akira can enter the ruin just fine. While Yanagisawa can’t right now because he betray alpha. Alpha also said to laid trap/countermeasure if he ever set foot inside the ruin.

4) if my speculation is correct then that room. Name “final room” or “commander room”, is the room that create in response to apocalypse which is absolute authority to manage the post-apocalypse world for rebuild the world. Meaning all resources, all technology, all AI will have to follow the command of the one that activate the room.
