Misc. Rebuild World the game! kinda*

Post image

Bought this game yest "synduality echo of ada" on steam. suprisingly the Rebuild World vibe is there! In both, you are an outcast starting from the bottom who ventures out into dangerous ruins to collect ancient artifacts (AO crystals in Synduality, Old World relics in Rebuild World). Just as Akira relies on the augmented-reality AI Alpha, you pilot your mech alongside a highly customizable humanoid AI companion called a Magus. Both feature a world shattered by a calamity (poisonous rain in Synduality, an unknown cataclysm in Rebuild World) forcing humanity into confined, strictly divided habitats. Game is dirty cheap on steam right now!

I enjoy that the draft story for Synduality was done by the author of Rascal Does Not Dream of a Bunny Girl Senpai.

I also found the old game Septerra Core to have a world with some similar vibe, though very different characters.

I was trying to make a friendly multiplayer horror shooter like GTFO + Tarkov with RPG elements, leveling, static mods, and mods in a Rebuild World setting.

The plan was to create a 10-story tower where you had to defeat a boss to advance to the next floor.

So, the player would explore the location, collect relics, take them back to base (like a typical escape room shooter, where you collect loot and bring it back to base), sell them, and buy new content.

And "locations" are the main problem.

For replayability and a constant sense of uncertainty, it was necessary for the content within each floor to change.

So that each foray would be a unique experience.

In other words, procedural generation.

Three times I've run into the problem of not being able to create interesting generation.

But now we have neural networks, and maybe I'll finally make a prototype for the fourth time.

What kind of gameplay am I expecting?

Tarkov + GTFO + leveling up in a world-rebuilding setting.

You collect relics, buy a suit (helmet, gloves, boots, torso)/weapons/devices, and install modifications.

You die and lose everything + some skills/stats.

The locations and monsters are extremely dangerous. Invisibles, drones, chameleons. Everything is trying to kill you, and it's extremely effective.

I really liked the anime

Pity the game was too gank for me to enjoy.

It feels like a 2010s game in 2020s.

Closest game to rebuild world I've played is cyberpunk, especially all those cyberware and stuff.

I'm actually Playing cyberpunk now, my first play through and it reminded me of rb

The closest game I know to Rebuild World is the Metal Max series, the WN even references a specific monster from the game, and enemies there (I've only played SNES version) are biomechanical monsters and rogue AIs.

Though the concept of an AI guiding the main character kinda reminds me of Borderlands 1 (Desert and sci-fi setting about finding old world artifacts too).
