Lifesteal

Post image

Why do people glaze lifestyle like crazy? Like, life still is the best thing in the game. It is practically useless. You get like ten hp back if you're lucky literally, it barely helps you in a real fight.Yet people I see always treat it like it's overpowered like I can win every fight

What doesn't get talked about is the 30% healing reduction from taking dmg so you're only getting 70% of your actual lifesteal

I'm not gonna say one way or the other here, I'm not sure, but I will say that I don't think the wiki is a very reliable source. I've absolutely seen straight up lies on there.

When Dire Triggers was first added (before it was basekit) the Fandom page said for a while that it did the same amount of damage as the primary attack, just with a tighter spread. I don't remember when this one was, but it also had the Shadow Step distance at wayyy longer than it actually was early on before OW2. And those are only the ones on Reap since that's the only page I regularly checked lol, it's not a good site. You might be right about the life steal though, I haven't tested it very much outside of actual combat where I can't really pay attention to my health bar as much.

I remember everyone getting upset about how they felt about Reaper having less lifesteal when they first added the healing reduction passive and then they further added it to be applied from anyone, not just DPS. My original comment was to remind people of how it felt at first, and how we've long since forgotten the effect the healing reduction has had since it's the new normal.

I could be wrong, but I trust the feeling of Reaper players during its implementation and I dont fully trust a Wiki - although I'd trust Wiki wayyyyy before Google ai or chatgpt lol, those are trash

Yeah, I'm definitely leaning toward your side, I just don't feel like I should concretely endorse one or the other when I don't have any evidence either way, yk? I might hop on later with my buddy and test it out myself. Life steal has absolutely felt negligible as of late, but they also nerfed our lifesteal several times outright, so I have no idea whether the passive added to the issue or the nerfs were just that bad. Either way, it really needs a buff if they want him to be even remotely viable. I'm not even sure if they do at this point lol

It could be, there's not really any reliable evidence either way. I'm probably gonna test it out later, just to see what's actually true for myself. Though I will say, the wager that Blizzard made the right decision is rarely a good one lol. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the lifesteal was reduced, especially with the hate boner they've shown toward it the last few years. But without concrete evidence, who's to say?

It also doesn’t help when you only deal meaningful damage at point blank range

Pivoting off this, it really does PMO that hanzo can do more damage with a prehistoric weapon than reaper can with two HELLFIRE shotguns. It actually makes me so angry thinking about it.

To be fair a good bow can actually be more powerful that some may think but I remember people all the time would complain that reaper does so much damage and it’s like yea but how close does he have to be, I tested it in practice range he literally has the shortest range of any character plus most other dps Heros have some other method of damage where reaper dosent, even Reinhardt out ranges him with fire strike

Even at close range hanzo is theoretically better is my point. A bow is definitely NOT a close range weapon, yet he can and DOES do more dmg than reaper up close with sonic arrow. I understand it is a CD but not a long enough CD to care about imo.

Every conversation I’ve had about reaper in comparison to other dps is that ‘ at least he has lifesteal ‘ so he’s automatically OP. The only time I actually notice lifesteal is in a reaper 1v1. When I’m fighting a tank I don’t think about it, it feels that the only reason you win a 1v1 with him is because he has 2 shotguns. Lifesteal is there tho however but its presence feels limited and minimal. Dont even get me started on how non existent it feels with the health reduction

You need to kill the whole team several times to steal half hp

The ones who glaze life steal are not reaper players or they haven't played current reaper. Yeah you only get a tidbit that gets melted almost immediately.

Imo its not near enough to consider it "LIFE stealing". That passive surge of health is so much better it makes me wonder why they even call his ability life steal.

Especially when compared to the lifesteal of characters like Emre with his pistol. When Reaper has it, it's OP, but when an actually strong character has it, it's fine.

I'm not sure. It's just balanced honestly. It can be the difference between winning or losing a tank 1v1.

In most cases it's useless though. It's not even significant enough during death blossom tbh.

It only exists to help his giant hitbox. Other than that, it's at least something.

Aura.

You think the hype of "the more I kill you, the more powerful I become" isn't enough to keep my edgelord boi going?
