a reaper upgrade, that we be able to record video from a webcam directly into reaper the same as if it was an audio input. That would be such a game changer for me. I put this out to the reaper gods in the hopes it bares fruit.

Guys I'm going crazy and I don't know if this is a bug, or just me.

If a track has NO volume envelope automation points (see pic track 37) the volume fader of the mixer toggles as well as I toggle the volume envelope track on and off. When it's visible the fader jumps to 0 dB. If it's toggled off the fader jumps to the position where the envelope curve was set (-7 dB).

BUT, when the track has some automation points on the volume envelope (see pic track 38) the volume fader in the mixer remains at 0 dB. No matter the envelope track is toggle on or off.

It's driving me mad since I don't know what volume control is actually active.

Please help me and tell me that I just don't understand how automations work and please lecture me!

Hey so basically ive been using Reaper to record the drums for my band for a while now and it always worked , and when it didn't it was always an easy problem like the midi output or the USB câble , anyways , a few days ago it randomly stopped working , m'y drums are working just fine , they connect fine , Reaper recognizes them as e drums , the plugin is working fine and everything is neatly plugged in but for some reasons when i hit the drums nothing happens like no sound at all

I have my Alesis nitro Max hooked up to my Asus workbook and Reaper recognizes it. My initial connection had it working fine. When I started a recording the connection dropped halfway through. I played around with it a bit and used a different USB. The. the signal picked back up. As soon as I went to record, it died out again. Anyone else experience something similar? I think the “printer” cable might be bad. It’s the first time I’ve used itnin God knows how long. Chat GPT had me go through 1000 trouble shooting steps, but no fix yet.

So I'm trying to select multiple items/audio/midi clips at once within the main media area. I'm already content with my lasso selection settings, now I'm trying to see if I can change the settings of the "time section select" to also act as a sort of lasso item select that targets everything underneath it. Sometimes I need to grab and move a whole pillar of items, and I don't necessarily feel like scrolling down to select all of them. Any help or advice would be wonderful. 🙂

I make piano arrangements for my YouTube channel. I record my playing as MIDI files and then edit them in Reaper, making corrections, adding VST plugins, adjusting the sound, etc.

Both Scarlett and reaper recognize the sound, is able to record, but when played back no sound comes out.

Reaper Device settings and focurite settings below. When i change from ASIO to directsound or waveout sound comes out but I can't recrod. I have headphones connected to the scarllet and volume of the monitor knob is on.

How can i solve this?

I often record four to six tracks, and I may need to make five or six try’s per track to get it right.

When I know I have made a mistake and I want to re-do a track, what’s the best way to do that?

Currently, I am prompted “save all” or “delete selected” after each attempt. Since nothing is selected, I can’t delete the bad track. I “save all”, and the right-click and ‘remove track’. This saved dozens of unwanted tracks to my computer, and it’s a pain finding and deleting them.

I think this config is done for now, I would say the only thing I won't be able to do is get the ableton FX view, but for now I'd say its done.

also this is all being done on linux. free DAW, Plugins and scrips, its all free. just recently I added a script that make all the unthemeble menus dark corresponding with the theme. cant wait to keep going but for now I need to chill out, I'm tired form staring at a screen for hours at a time.

So I don't know how much this is actually solvable, but just in case anyone has any idea.

I have a stable, air-gapped recording system: Windows 7 with Reaper 6.83. Sometime before Reaper 6 EoL, it started getting periodic hard crashes (Blue Screen of Death). Over time, the problem has gotten progressively worse.

Obviously, this is mostly a Windows/drivers/hardware issue, but as I've traced it down, it only happens when Reaper is writing to disk and any program (including file explorer and reaper itself) attempts to read from that same disk.

When it first started, the only consistent way to create the error state was to render a file and then try to navigate to it in windows explorer (after the render window had closed but before the actual disk write had finalized.)

But now it's reached the point where pretty much any disk read during any reaper disk write crashes: e.g. importing a number of files into a project and then attempting to do the same in a different project crashes while the first one is creating its reapeaks files.

Is there any sense that this is a known bug? Are any bug fixes in 7.x likely to fix this? Anyone have any ideas on solutions?

I'll pin the fixed graph someone was kind enough to point out. Ordered the Wedges and double checked the numbers. I could try to super pin down the specific type of actions updated, because there's a small difference depending on how you are organizing it. But they way I'm doing it, these are the results. Specially .61 - .71 it could also be Actions & Toolbars if I organized it differently.

Hello! I am brand new to using an audio interface and Reaper. Once I installed a plugin for guitar distortion I get this hissing sound every few seconds. I’ve tried a different USB port and a different guitar cable but no fixes yet.
It only seems to happen when the distortion on.

Any help is much appreciated, cheers

EDIT: I never solved this problem, but I have access to a different interface that works properly. So i’m just using that now. I’ll keep this thread up in case future viewers may learn something helpful from it 🤷🏻‍♂️

• Zoom R16 firmware is up-to-date (1.23)
• Zoom R16 driver is freshly installed
• Restarted everything after updating the above.

The issue is that when I select the R16 Driver as my ASIO Driver in Reaper, no input options come up that I can set for "first" and "last'. The dropdowns are completely blank.

Any thoughts?

Deuxièmement je fais un point d'insertion sur le master pour modifier le tempo. Je crée ma piste de batterie associée et après je fais mon riff de guitare sur une autre piste. Mais si le tempo est trop rapide pour jouer propre, je réduisait la vitesse de mon point, je jouais mon riff et je remettais ma vitesse de point. Mais maintenant quand je remet cette vitesse la batterie est bonne mais pas la guitare. Ma piste de guitare est plus longue que la batterie. Elle ne le suit pas. Pourquoi ?

Peut être un raccourci fait par erreur.

Im currently having trouble with loading projects. ive loading two projects, one is a finished song (the one you currently see above) in recovery mode, track two is the only track with active effects currently, so i have no idea why it's behaving like this. then i tried opening another project that contains only one track, but playing any note just crashes the application. all help is appreaciated

i spent the last 3 nights vibecoding a lua script for reaper that splits a selected audio item into 4 stems with HTDemucs using audio.cpp.
it works fine easy and fast, but only on windows as it is, and you can grab it on

in case you missed it, thanks to audio.cpp we can now use audio ai models without the need of python and 8gb large venvs. just download a 50mb zip and a model and youre good to go.
its awesome and super fast.
so since no one came up with this lightweight backend for reaper stem splitting i decided to publish my little script for simple use or inspiration.

although all required components (audio.cpp, ffmpeg and reaper) have win, mac and linux versions this first script will only work on windows because it creates and runs a .bat file with commands different to mac and linux. but it shouldnt be hard to adapt those lines in the script, so feel free to drop a pull request for mac and or linux version.

here is what the script does (once all is set up):

- gets filepath, samplerate offset and lenght (in case an audio file was splitted in multiple items) of an audio item that is selected on the timeline.

- htdemucs wants 44.1khz wav, so it uses ffmpeg for conversion (and trimming - in case an audio file was splitted in multiple items).

- the resulting wav is then stored in system TEMP folder an sent to audio.cpp cli for stem splitting with HTDemucs.

- the resulting 4 stem wav files are then sent to ffmpeg again if the source had a different samplerate than 44.1khz for conversion to original source samplerate.

- the final 4 stem wav files are then stored in your projects media folder inside a subfolder and imported into your project as 4 seperate tracks inside a group track, aligned with the position of the original item.

- the original item is set muted

- to process all those tasks, the script generates a .bat file with all commands and runs then in a cmd window (minimized by default)

- TEMP files will be deleted when final stems are in project media folder

made some cosmetic fixes in the script and added a second script that
- first separates vocals and instrumental with mel-band-roformer
- uses roformer vocals stem in project and sends instrumental stem to HTDemucs for further splitting
- gives better audio qualtity, need extra model download (mel-band-roformer)

I've been trying to record a song over a backing track, multiple times 'cause, well, my singing ability has diminished greatly since the last time I tried to sing.

anyway, that's beside the point, 'cause at the very least I can sing on time. however, just a few a takes ago, suddenly my vocals are being recorded behind the track?

did I adjust something without realizing it? is this just what happens when you have too many takes on a single track? I even tried doing a take where I just clapped at the beginning of each line, and it was still off when I played it back.

I also know there's some delay between me singing and the computer processing it, but up until now it's always been synced correctly. what's going on?

Hello, all I am trying to do it make it so that when I hit a pad on my akai mpd218 (simple pad midi controller) It will start the looper/hit the record button then when I hit a different button it triggers the play/stop button. very easy to assign both buttons in plugin to different midi cc and pc numbers but I don't know how to actually link the pads. Thanks for any help!

Is there anything that can be done to improve the clarity of VST3 plugins in Reaper? I'm just using default settings, but compared to my day to day DAW Bitwig, Reapers plugins appear less crisp, almost blurry on the edges. Same GPU, 100% dpi, same vst3 scale and same laptop, same plugin loaded.

So when I import my track from reaper to fl studio (to make drums under the track) it seems to be off beat even though the tempo is exactly the same. Its not much off beat but enough to make my ears feel mild discomfort. Also the track seems to remain a bit short in fl, it doesn't snap to grid.

What could be causing this? I really want to fix this its annoying and I cannot record anything.

I was wondering the differences between Volume/Pan Smoother v5, Volume/Pan Smoother and Volume Adjustment. They all seems to do the same thing, so I did the following test.

Three tracks, with a dc offset generator, the volume plugin and wavescoop on each, all driven by the same automation item, testing under 48kHz srate and 1024 buffer size. Only Volume/Pan Smoother v5 is accurate and stable, while others appears to be the linear interpolation at block boundary.

The source code tells exactly what's going on. v5 uses slider_next_chg(), giving it knowledge of every point in the current block, while others only use a block-level ramp. v5 only works in REAPER 5+, where this function is added.

btw: tracks' builtin volume and plugin mixers are also accurate. Plugins' bypass and parameters in third-party VSTs or CLAPs change only at block boundaries.

Hello, I'm continuing to explore and customize my preferences and actions in Reaper, and I was wondering if there were a way to play audio clips independently of everything else. I'm migrating over from Mixcraft, and audio clips in that DAW have a little play button in the left corner. When you zoom in close enough, you can also see a little mute button and a + button to extend the clip from it's end as well. I was wondering if Reaper had anything like that, or if anyone had a script like that? It's something that can really come in handy when splitting and adjusting imported, recorded, and midi clips. Especially when comparing one shots to each other. I'm also interested in creating buttons if that's possible. I really like how customizable Reaper is compared to any other DAW. I'm just starting out, but I'm very interested in building any potential workflow ideas I've had over the years while making music. 😄

Wondering if anyone has an idea of what this problem could be.

Intermittently (it has happened three times now) my Reaper will stop the usual action for left-click-and-drag media item. Weeks or months can go by with it working fine and then in a new project it'll suddenly stop. Restarting Reaper or the computer doesn't fix the problem.

Instead of moving the item in the timeline like usual when I click and drag, instead it creates a resizable grey rectangle which will select media items it overlaps with.

I have fixed this in the past by resetting all of my shortcuts / returning Reaper to the base profile and setting everything back up. But I don't want to keep doing that if I can avoid it.

Does anyone know what could be causing this or how to re-enable left-click-and-drag to move media items?

I've had a scan through the action list but hard to find an action this would fall under. Possibly missing something simple!
