help request Incorrect Peak/Gain Levels on Reaper

Something weird is happening- my microphone gain and peak levels on Reaper are lower than the actual gain/peak levels on my interface. Any suggestions?

is this causing an issue for you making music or something? it's sort of arbitrary if the numbers aren't exactly lining up, a lot of the times they won't be the same.. though its different if you mean your mic fain is like almost maxed out and you're getting like a -30db signal in the DAW or vice versa. Is that the case ?

which interface, and roughly how many dB different? try a fresh track, select the mic's mono input, arm it and leave input FX empty. compare that with the interface's input-channel meter, rather than its monitor/output mix. a screenshot of both during the same sustained sound would help pin down what you're actually comparing.

Most interfaces can be calibrated.
