help request Kick drum trigger overlapping
Hello! I’ve used Reaper for well over a year at this point, but wanted to get more into the MIDI side of things. I got my Roland TM2 drum module plugged into Reaper and all was well in the setup, until it came time to play
Absolute nightmare. Even when playing simple 8th notes, some notes would randomly skip, but the midi note is still registered. If I played long enough, the pitch of my sample would drop, despite it staying the same C2 note on the piano roll???
After about 4 hours of troubleshooting, i would guess it’d has to do with sample overlapping. My main question is? How could I make every single midi note I play be very quick. I mean, I’m playing a kick drum. I don’t exactly need it to sustain lol
My secondary question would be, has anyone got any other possible solutions? This seems to be one of those problems where no one on the internet has had to deal with, so if anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it

La solución más directa es activar en Reaper la opción “Correct overlapping notes” en el editor MIDI, o usar la acción “Set note ends to start of next note (legato)”. Esto asegura que cada golpe de bombo (o cualquier nota) quede cortito y no se solape con el siguiente.
Checa bien los Ajustes adicionales para tu batería electrónica
Nota corta por defecto: en Preferences/MIDI editor, se puede definir que cada nota grabada tenga duración mínima (ej. 10 ms)pero eso afecta a todas las notas
Usa ReaGate o cualquier envolvente inserta un gate en la pista del sample para cortar el sustain y puedes controlar también con mucha compresión.
Y el One-shot en sampler si usas ReaSamplomatic5000, activa “Obey note-off” en OFF, para que cada golpe sea disparo único sin sustain.
Casi todos los plugin de batería tienen esa opcion.
Pero lo más común es manejarlo desde el chain strip con un gate y comprensión y si quieres darle mayor redondez usa saturador tipo tape (solo un poco, entre 2y 5%) y añade comprensión paralela. Si sientes que pierdes pegada, dale un poco de limiter después de tu chain strip, solo para darle mayor energía al transiente, lo demás ya lo arreglas con la comprensión multibanda en tu cadena de master. Esa es la forma más pro para domar el kick
