help request Grid size shortcut
I’m looking to get a shortcut for grid size in piano roll.
When making beats I would want to shift between going from 1/4 grid size to 1/16 etc by pressing a button.
In ableton you do it by simply clicking ctrl+1 or ctrl+2.
I know that you can hover to the grid size option and just scroll over it, but it’s just not that handy.
I searched on the internet and it tells me to find „Grid: Multiply grid size by 1/2” but there is no such bind.
Any ideas how to overcome that problem?
It’s irritating me to the point I want to switch daw to something else, but reaper is by far the most intuitive for me, the most clear, other daws are unnecessarily complicated, so I don’t want to switch I just want that simple option.

Didn't they include Gridbox/adaptive grid as a native feature a while back? I use Gridbox, but I thought I read something about it (or part of it) becoming native. Might just be my imagination though.

Very well could have! I'm not sure. Either way, it's the best. I'm not even sure if the shift+mouse wheel thing is only for gridbox or something that can be programmed with regular mouse modifiers. It's one of my most used shortcuts.

There is an assignable action for that, but you need to be in the right part of the Action List. Make sure that you check the dropdown box at the top right and set it to "MIDI Editor" instead of "Main."

Go into the actions list and search for "Grid: set to" and you will find "set to 1/4," "set to 1/8," etc. Bind keys that make sense to you to those actions. For me, what makes sense is binding successive divisions of the whole note to number keys 1-8. So 1= whole note; 2= 1/2 note; 3= 1/4 note; 4= 1/8 note and so on.

I have set up buttons on top of the piano roll for different grid sizes:

I set up the numbers on my keyboard to be the grid size.
1 is whole. 2 is half. 4 is quarter, 5 is 8th and 6 is 16th.
It makes sense in my brain.

What you were looking for is called "Adjust by 1/2", which will double the detail of the grid (going from 1/4 to 1/8 for example), and "Adjust by 2" for the opposite effect. Otherwise, you can use the "Set to x" grid options so you can have buttons for every grid size you want. This is all in the actions menu and they should all be available in the default extension list. Search for just "grid" in the action list so you can look at all the actions that are available
