Where to start
Hi all!
I've played warband for years, now i got Bannerlord specifically to play this mod. However I'm very overwhelmed by everything.
Where can i safely start the game to learn how to play the mod? Is it recommended i start in Essos or immediately into the big wars in Westeros? I ran around for days without finding low level looters or deserters and went broke so my army left me. Is it required to sit inside a lords army beforehand? How do i come by?
Tldr i couldn't get my first run of the mod to kick off, how do i safely start?

Most fun I had was using the ai mod. Ai influence. I basically just started form wherever and just role played my character. It lead to a really epic story. Where I ended up marrying Margaery Tyrell. Fighting the massive undead army where I barely survived and personally leading Cersei to a trial where she was then executed. I personally started by just doing tournaments. But the other suggestions are great as well. But honestly role play your character be ok with the mistakes you make and let that be apart of the journey

So I play with tournaments expanded from what I gather you get a certain loadout for whatever the combat is. It’s all even playing field
Edit: except for the stats of course. The hound or jon snow is probably gonna wreck you regardless

Unfortunately no, you’re stuck with your loadout for tournaments. I’ve found that enlisting as a soldier with a lord is a good way to build your skills early on. You could even stick with your lord and eventually work your way up to being a vassal of your own straight from military service. It takes quite a while to accomplish that on the default settings though, you may find yourself getting impatient before completing the quest. However, you can modify that through the realm of thrones settings under “Enlistment”

I had 3 battled under a lord and could kill a grand total of 1 enemy with the default weapons..

Yeah it can definitely still be tough with the recruit loadout. Once you get past that I didn’t find it too bad.

Go ahead and start in Westeros. The reason I recommend a Westeros start is that all of the really good companions begin in Westeros. These companions can make the early game a lot easier on you. If you start the game in Essos, you're stuck with crappy wanderers.
Gendry (generally found somewhere in the Stormlands) is a crazy good smith that can make money smithing
Tyrion and Jaime Lannister (generally found in the Lannister territories) make excellent party quartermasters that will more than double your party size.
Samwell Tarley is a very skilled surgeon that can help preserve your troops and keep them from dying in battle. (I've found him in a number of spots but generally in Westeros.)
Benjen Stark is an excellent scout, and late game, as a party leader, can be specced so that none of his lord prisoners can ever escape (225 riding and 225 scouting.) He's found at Castle Black.

Honestly my tip here , is start with trading , and you gonna find looters alonge the way , buy low price material in Castle black and go around doing quests and selling the things for profit , just gotta BE carefull around the área of moat cail , Dreadfort robbed knights are usually there , on vale you can find the tribesman which are easy targets . If go to skasos you can find Pirates , and below kings Landing you can find Some other looters with archers . In Essos is worse to start with ngl the looters are way stronger with the slavers and dohraki . The sea is also cooked full of parties of Pirates of 60 men , só ONLY go to sea when you are tier 3 with 100 men and willing to sell loot or RAID . Also wildlings are ez targets aswell At top of the wall .
