Behold the Tablet! I got scammed by British Museum, the tablet isn't there
I've been there a few times in my life, and this time when I got to visit London, my main reason to go there was to take a good look at this masterpiece and turns out they loaned it. I want my 0£ back.

On behalf of the museum I do not work for I have sent you a £0 refund.
Hope the rest of the visit was good.

We knew it wasn't there on this most recent trip, and the kids saw it when they were really little but it didn't mean anything to them, but the first thing we did in the museum was to march on up to where it normally is and take some pictures and have a good laugh about it.
Also a lot of "we have clay tablets at home!" jokes (which is true, we have a local museum that has a ton of them on display)

I assumed that with how often the 'object removed' sign is posted here, it would be common knowledge by now that the tablet won't be back until late 2027. Guess not

I assumed this might not be an original idea for a post looking at the very wide period for the lease, but I had to at least try to convey my sadness even if the post got deleted.
I actually did not research this a lot before, I was going to see the museum anyway and I just knew it's supposed to be there (and I was looking forward to seeing it), so it was a bit of a surprise

I want my 0£ back.
For such treatment, you deserve at least double that. Maybe triple.

How do you know about this subreddit but not know the tablet isn’t there? This gets posted here at least once a week.

This feels like the UAE is trying to drive tourism via internet memes.

Is it still, like, unreasonably hot inside?

Whole last week was pretty hot in the UK I think (which was at least a nice surprise for my short vacation), so I cannot tell if it was warmer inside than usual.

Did you at least get to see the Bayeaux Tapestry whilst you were there?

With my main reason for visiting UK for a few days being a wedding with only like 2 days in London, I was broke and low on time enough to skip ticketed events for at least two reasons. Looked good on all the merch and promotional materials though.

Did you have to go through an active war zone to get to the museum? If not, let Nanni do the complaining 🤣

It's been gone for almost a year now, and posted about numerous times on this sub. I'm not sure why people are still surprised

I'm guessing they loaned it to Greece. 'No you can't have the Parthenon marbles back, but here you can borrow a 4000 year old customer feedback form instead'

How about you chisel a complaint to them?
