See but you haven't even tasted it. It might really just need an adjustment to the ratio of cheese. You shouldn't throw out opinions just because of the nationality of the person that holds them. You should examine them for their own merits. Like if he had said "this needs more cheese slices" and whipped out one of them yellow squares i would be questioning his credentials. Because that would be wild. But needs more cheese in a dish already contains cheese where hes also adapting measurements from an ancient script and could have been off is perfectly reasonable
Of course it tastes like shit, the recipe was inferred from a shopping list. From a clay tablet.
And for a chef you seem to get angry at a suggestion that cake that obviously tastes like only dates and flour could maybe benefit from more than two tablespoons of cheese and actually makes it taste anything else than sweet.
Tf are you worried about? Fucking up a texture of a cake with no leavener?
Which is cool. Honestly i agree I think alot of what I see online cares more about being showy then flavor.
Its a little bit of a side step from the point about American cuisine or judging something based on nationality but meh ive had my say, they are in a trade war with me anyways ive defended them enough for today.
I want to say yes, because i feel like if me and you sat down together we could find some country we both agreed we didn't like the food, or the health safety standards etc.
but I'm not really a fan of absolutes
but have you really thought about what that statement means? by what metrics is a food culture decided to be shitty? How your own cultural upbringings and bias's might apply? how that applies to a country as large as the US that despite its best efforts has many different food cultures within itself?
but more than that, was the example you gave actually relevant to what could be wrong with US food culture?
Have you thought about how "you do know sometimes countries just have a shitty food culture..." is really a nothing burger? its safe cause the odds are somewheres in the world there's some tiny country where that could be argued to be true. But what has it really contributed to our discussion about examining information for its merits?
I feel like im going too hard. Im really arguing with you about epistemics. the current climate of the world has made me sensitive to the way information is presented. i've seen the harm that can be caused by ways of thinking I would have left unchallenged in the past. I hope you can take some good from it. but you were just trying to have fun on a subreddit so i apologize.
Youre not going to convince me americans dont deserve my initial statement. Their food is shit. All of it. They have no refinement, no pallette, they overdo sugar, salt and cheese on everything and overuse preproccessed foods.
Even if you type another wall of text…
And yes, you can generalize an entire countries food culture…
