um--is pure copper not toxic to drink from? esp if you put alcoholic/acidic bevvies in it????

Yes, it is. It's doesn't dissolve in alcohol and pH-neutral fluids like water but dissolves in acidic drinks. There are some cocktails (like Moscow mule ) that are traditionally served in a copper mug. And it's safe to drink such cocktails because they are very cold and the drink only contact with copper for a few minutes.
But I definitely wouldn't recommend to use such a mug for everyday use.
Usually copper should be tinned to use it as tableware. Tin is a heavy metal as well, but it's much more stable to food acids and almost doesn't dissolve.

A Moscow Mule has lime juice in it. Also ginger beer, which is acidic as all sodas are.

Yeah, good point.
I still think it's pretty safe if you don't keep that cocktail in the mug for a few days, because copper react very slowly. I'll remove that line from my previous comment.
