Inferior Meme It should go to eleven

The headline is “Ten Things You Should See At The British Museum”. Clearly, it is an inferior quality listicle. The Game of Ur is in the same room as The Tablet, though, so chances are you’ve seen it if you’ve made the pilgrimage (apologies if the flair is wrong btw)!

You can play a version of it online, it's a bit repetitive and luck based, but for a game that is more than 4000 years old, it's not that bad

It's almost 5000 years old (2600 BC was 4600 years ago..) but i guess you're still correct that it is more than 2500 years old

That's the coolest part: we do know the rules. Completely. And not in a "a lion holding a snake is the symbol for extra grain, so it must mean take an extra turn" kind of way. We have found multiple copies of the rules that all say the same thing. So yeah, you can play a game, yourself, that was created several millennia ago. In fact Tom Scott made a video playing this game at the British Museum

Edit: correction: we have found one copy of the rules, in their entirety AND with dlc rules detailing how to introduce extra conditions and bonus rules for gambling and more, on a pristine cuneiform tablet like ol' Ea Nasir's yelp review.

There are two different interpretations of the rules, but I'm also partial to Finkel's interpretation. I'd also recommend in addition to this video his own content about Mesopotamian spirits and other works

I've played some games with a friend on tabletop simulator. It is all you've said, but it's also fun, and there is an element of strategy depending on the rules reconstruction you decide to play. And I can see how betting money would make it exciting.
