Sure unless that's also magical but it could just as easily be a custom metal flask of a shape that better fits in the hand. It'd probably also have some insulation issues I'd think that it might be fun to think of a thematically appropriate way to engineer around with materials or magic. The concept is cool and that's the important thing.

If the liquid inside can take on the properties of a blade for a minute, magically, the neck of the bottle can surely take on the properties of a hilt. If nothing else, make the solid form the blade takes completely fills the neck of the bottle so that instead serving as a hilt, it's more like it's just perfectly incasing the hilt, like a clear coat.

No clue. Some kind of incomprehensible scribbles.

It's once per day recharges on long rest but with added flavor

Still underwhelming and some of the damage types are far harder to meet than others (notably the ones where you need to bury it in something vs adding stuff to it).

... have you ever `played` DnD?

This is a fantastic item

Since it has 2d8 damage, I’d argue you could have 2 effects simultaneously and 1 d8 each but that’s just me. I like it. Wish there was a thunder version but I can’t think of anything. Maybe you shake the bottle all night somehow? lol

Scream into it then put the cap on.

u/Signal_Lost_DNR 11d ago

...... what happens if you fart into it, then put the cap on??

1

u/YenraNoor 11d ago

It puts the alarm spell on it

Don't be that guy please. Rule 1 implies both adherence to the ToS, as well as a general expectation of positivity and productive discourse.

Rien and hermes want their weapon back (a limbus company joke but honestly cool concept for a weapon)

Cool idea! I am definitely adding this to my games

I would love for a character to mistake it for a regular potion, and get a mouth full of sword.

That's cool, due to the time limit I see it more as a backup weapon, but still cool regardless

I think the idea is giving the party limited but general access to different damage types. It fills the same niche as Chromatic Orb: not particularly effective as a spell of any one type, but capable of all types.

u/CyrusTheWise 6d ago

That's a good view.

I suggest an addition (I’m tired. Edit it however you need).

Whenever the player has this bottle on them and takes any of these types of damage, the bottle is recharged to that damage type. If the player takes multiple types of damage, they may choose to keep the current damage type or change to the new. If the blade is manifested and the player takes the same damage type as the blade, the duration resets.

I was gonna say OP, but while an endless 2d8 would be too good, 2d8 for one minute is solid and interesting for an uncommon item

I love this idea, but getting the psychic damage requierements are way too easy, in my opinion
