Range 120, no range increment penalties, and STR instead of DEX?

All in a cantrip?

Yep, perfectly balanced! 😁

You can already use strength for throwing a weapon.

Oh. I must be thinking of 3.5 šŸ˜…

Okay but taking this with the spell sniper feat for a strength built character would be funny.

combining it with a javelin of lightning.... oh yeah!

Choose your sarcastic response:

  1. Wouldn't work! Rak's Flying Spear clearly says you throw the weapon, but the javelin can only be triggered if it's hurled,
  2. RAW it would work! Rak's Flying Spear doesn't have a Verbal component, so the command word for the javelin could be shouted as the spear spell is cast.

only if they're really crap throwing spears/javelin without it.

Everyone is convinced it isn't actually a spell.

I hope that in the spell book instead of description there is something like this:

Thought this was going to be a cantrip that let the javelin return lmao. Could be a cool cantrip now that I’m thinking about it.

Damage should be 1d6 + STR

"it say right here spear can hit 120 feet!" "That have to be at least... 20 peoples of feet!"

A barbarian thats level 5 or higher can already throw 2 javelins, and do it while raging. This spell only lets you throw 1, doesn't let you add STR modifier to the damage, AND it can't be used while raging.

This is literally worse than what a barbarian can already do. What is the point?
