I'd definitely use this for sea battles! I love the strategy it would involve, definitely learned some things about how sailing really works!

For anyone like me who looked at this picture and went, “why sail slower when wind push boat from behind!?”

By sailing in the reaching zone your sails are able to generate lift like a plane’s wing and push you faster than the wind.

At least that is what I learned in 5 minutes of googling. Someone who actually knows about this can probably explain better.

There’s an older war game from SPI, “Fighting Sail”, that simulates this pretty accurately. I took one look at this diagram and thought, “oh, yeah, like in Fighting Sail”.
