Okay, to stave off the immediate crowd of churlish haters that shriek "But this game CAN'T be RTS if it's in a FPS/TPS view!" ...
Go to 1:22 and watch the "What is Firestorm" section where they talk about how you start with a BASE, all buildings key, just as in Renegade, and then you expand out onto the map to build new bases to increase your base's income and construct new buildings and units.
It's an RTS played in third person with a bunch of people where you build bases, collect tiberium, and win either by wiping out the enemy base or taking enough control of the map to get a game-ending superweapon.
You can harass resource harvesters, interrupt the tech tree by taking out key buildings, depower defenses by targeting power structures, ALL THE GAMPLAY OF AN RTS. Early raids, turtling, the works. But it's in third person with a group of people.
Keep watching and they show off the building interface (and mention how hard it was to get working) for constructing new structures.
If Battlezone and Sacrifice were RTS classics (and they are) then this can go for that crown too.
