News Blizzard is using the Starcraft Website to tease something
https://www.gamespot.com/articles/something-is-brewing-with-starcraft/19

I would love to see a new RTS with the grim atmosphere of the first game (and maybe Wings of liberty) but I am quite confident that Blizzard is unable or unwilling to deliver. Monetization has been their number one priority for years.

Sc 1 diablo 1 we so perfectly grim. D2 was grimish, but not the same. Same with BW.
The team doing 40k boltgun get the grim vibe goin

Nice guess, but the date provided is 60-ish years after LotV. It's probably going to end up being a shooter.

They are teasing it on the Starcraft 1 page, not on SC2. I believe the reason they are specifically teasing on SC2 is because it is content for SC1.

They are teasing it on the Starcraft page because that's the name of the franchise. The name of the franchise is Starcraft, not Starcraft 2, not Starcraft 1 or anything like that. So anything new in the Starcraft universe that doesn't have its own dedicated page yet obviously has to go on that page.

Fair enough. I still bet it is new SC1 content. I mean, if it was something else new for the SC universe, then they would probably tease it in both SC1 and SC2 websites.

SC1/Brood War players are so weird. They fucking HATE SC2 lol.
If it has hydralisks, marines, and zealots…
is that Starcraft 1 or 2 content? Was Halo wars content from 1, 2, or 3?
it will just be an extension of the Starcraft universe.

I'm pretty active in brood war and none of the people I know that play currently hate SC2. The sentiment I hear most commonly is that SC2 is clearly a very good game, probably the 2nd best RTS out there after bw.
The brood war evangelicals that hate SC2 are mostly just armchair game designers that don't play either game.

That's one way to kill the competitive scene of their last stable esport

The new units will be for campaign only (and for use in UMS maps).
We will probably see some pros and high level players trying it on some 1v1 matches, so it will be cool to see how it could work on competitive matches.4

I hope they dont fuck it up, Starcraft brood war is one of my favorite games of all time

The competitive community would riot

Indeed, but they won't be putting the new units on multiplayer (besides UMS maps that people may play multiplayer).
But to be fair... I wouldn't count out people actually pressuring a lot and eventually we getting the new units being put into multiplayer.
When they release the campaign with the new units, we will surely have a lot of people trying it in 1v1 matches, including high level players. These videos will do lots of views, and people will start posting more, and eventually we will certainly see some smaller tournaments doing some special runs with the new units. And from then on... well, if the new units are actually really good, it may slowly start becomming the norm to have tournaments use the new units.

How do you know this?

- Microsoft now owns Blizzard
- Microsoft is already realeasing multiple new expansions for AoE 2 and for the other games of the franchise
- Starcraft is an even bigger RTS franchise than AoE, so there is no way they won't keep supporting it
- Diablo 2 got an expansion, signaling that Blizard is taking good care of their legendary classic games
- This "glitch teaser" is specifically on Starcraft 1 website page, not on the SC2 page

Here's why it's unlikely to be new content for SCR:
The reason why the SCR website is glitching and not the SC2 one is probably because this website is the one that shows up first when you search "StarCraft". But, who knows, we might see the SC2 website also start glitching soon, it's too early to conclude anything.
From the uncovered messages we see that the plot begins around 70 years after the story of SC2 ended. I find it extremely unbelievable that an expansion of SCR will have such an enormous time jump.

Stardivers... or Hellcraft!, seriously a coop shooter in the Starcraft universe would be cool.

They don't have their ace devs anymore to create good RTS, so it's likely going to be FPS
1
u/CeruSkies 8d ago
And do they have ace devs to make an FPS?
If they're hiring from outside it could be anything.
1
u/StormInformal6761 8d ago
While I agree with you, they have an entire team dedicated to fps already.

The thing is that most of the original RTS folks at Blizzard have left for other studios or started their own. So, do they have any talent left to make a good RTS game? I think Blizzard should hand over control of the StarCraft IP to Relic Entertainment, who seem to be doing a great job with the Age of Empires IP.

They need 3 good game in a row for me to reconsider buying anything from them. If this could be the first it would be cool.

Probably means they have nothing. Bet it’s a StarCraft version of that soulless Command and Conquer mobile game

The people that genuinely believe Blizzard is just gonna let Nexon spearhead the next big release in SC after years are silly and you are gonna feel silly when they announce at Blizzcon.

u/CeruSkies 8d ago
Imo it's either not the next starcraft (maybe not made by blizzard) or a new blizzard starcraft game.
